That's a load of malarky!

Even parents who come in and volunteer in my son's classroom use the

FM--they just pass the microphone around.

I was talking to a Mom today who comes in and does a seasonal craft with

them several times a year--and has done since kindergarten, bless her--and

she says her only problem is that she forgets to take it off when she's

leaving and chases after her.

's right. My daughter's 8 year old classmates pass the transmitter

and lapel mic to each other when they speak in front of the room. I would

hope that adults could do the same thing. Oh- carries the

transmitter and mic from one teacher to another when they switch rooms for

things like library, art and music. She has done this since 1st grade.

Anyone who comes in to talk at assemblies also wears the FM.

I agree, we have no trouble getting people to pass it around at church,

Sunday School, girl scout meetings, etc. If people are the slightest bit

interested in making a meeting accessible to Petya they find it doesn't take

that much effort.

I agree.

I have to tell you about something Dave did recently. He got tickets to one of

the local

hockey games (rink-side) that will take place in a couple of weeks. The place

doesn't

provide any assistive listening devices so Dave got in contact with their sound

man for

the event. After explaining to him about our son's needs and that we had a

personal FM

system already for him, the sound guy volunteered to hook it into the sound

system for the

event. Dave didn't even have to mention the ADA or anything.

I've also found that kids/teachers/speakers don't mind passing the FM & Mic

around.

Judging from the looks on some of the kids' faces when they use it, it makes

them feel

special.

Hugs,

Kay

That is great about the hockey game Kay. Most people simply have not been

educated on the need.

In church if someone forgets to pass the microphone Petya simply hops up,

goes and gets it and hands it to the speaker. When the speaker sees what

she is doing he/she simply pauses until they have the mic. She's getting

them trained.
