I no longer have the puffy ankles.. I go that one licked.. it's that hard

stuff.. the red and shinny, when it's irritated... and when you press it

it turns white for a bit.. than back to reddish... and the larger, most

noticeable patch on the left shin feels warm to the touch...

Topper, I haven't had problems with swelling(except when I'm on my

feet a lot) but I am getting the red and shiny stuff on the top of

the toes on one foot ( ? ) What's up with that? Anybody?

Hi, Topper,

I just got a chance to read this. I have the " red, shiny stuff " ,

but I also have puffy ankles. I am guessing that the ankles are due to a

too-low dose of Armour, but I am about to increase my dose. BTW, did I

mention that the Cytomel did not work well? I think it is because it does

not enter the system as slowly as with Armour. It is a " jolt " and I wasn't

pleased with that at all...

Does anyone know what that " shiny, red edema " is and what to do

about it? The only thing I have heard about it is that it is related to a

low Potassium level. I have prescription strength Potassium to take

(family doctor gives this to me every summer) so will be starting that and

a tiny dose of Lasix for what he calls, " Summer Edema " , but this year it

never went away...

(((((((((Dianne))))))))) That type of edema is what I have been suffering

with off and on for awhile. And then for me it lead to my ulcers on my legs

and eventually those recent hospital stays. I have been told that this red

shiny type is indicative of hypothyroidism.
