Nita,

Welcome! (I love your email name, by the way). You are definitely in

the right place. Many members have found this site through a

referral in " Stop Walking on Eggshells " , which is a great book for

parents and family members of bp's.

As your daughter is a recovering alcoholic, you are probably

familiar with Alanon, which is a terrific place to go for support

and resources. I belong to a NarAnon group, and it has been a

lifesaver. Many people there are in similar situations. And it seems

most addicts have a " dual diagnosis " of mental illness and substance

abuse problems. If you do not attend, I encourage you to go.

Many people here have adult children with bp and can relate to your

feelings about it. You will find many friends here.

Welcome Nita. I believe you will find you have found the right place. I too

have an adult son who is BPD and also an alcoholic. (Non-recovering on both). I

have found so much understanding and compassion here. We never stop wanting to

being " The Mom " do we? No matter how old they are. My son too is high

functioning so appears fine to other people most of the time. Most people just

think he is just irresponsible and drinks too much. Hang in there. This place

can help give you strength to get up in the morning and at least some peace to

make it through the day. Look to your side...we are all there traveling this

road with you, and believe me it can be a long road. Again welcome.

Every mother's dream!!! So I'm setting high hopes at finding some

answers or validation or " relief " here. Thanks for being here!
