Guest guest
asked for last minute advice: > Tomorrow morning I am going in for a " bilateral radio-frequency ablation L2-L5. My pain Doc says this is the last thing he can try before surgery. I have had epidural injections, facet injections, nerve blocks, all with no relief. Hi I've had good results from radio frequency treatments. I am surprised though that your doctor would suggestion radio-frequency ablation to you, since neither facet injections and nerve blocks worked for you. Radio frequency lesioning (ablation) is normally used for long term relief for patients who have had successful short term relief from facet joint injections. Maybe you'll be lucky and it will work, when the others failed. It's a long shot, but I guess you won't know if you don't try. Good luck! Guest guest
I have had facet injections also and they didn't help for more than a few hours. I was desperate for relief so I tried the nerve ablations. Since the first time I have had them a total of 6 times. I have had 3 bilaterally at 3 levels each in my C-spine and 3 bilaterally at 3 levels in my L-spine. It has helped me so much I can't even describe it. I have a complex pain problem and have more than one kind of pain, but these nerve ablations are a miracle for facet disease. They don't get rid of the disease but can totally get rid of the pain for a year or more. I had been scared away from doing this treatment by two doctors who both said the procedure was too painful and they didn't think it would help. This was bunk. It was painful, yes, I won't kid you about that. But I walked out of there in less pain than I had been in for years. I had come to the point that I couldn't walk or climb the stairs before the treatments, and now I am able to function much better. I hope you get the relief you need and are feeling better soon. Guest guest
I had my ablation last Wednesday and am in more pain now than I have EVER been in. Did something go wrong? I worry about possible infection and my blood pressure. At this rate I am going to rum myself out of medication before my Monday Dr. appt. I usually react to these procedures and I prepare with other meds also, muscle relaxants, sleep medication. Please call and tell them what is going on so you can get some relief. I have procedure in two weeks so I understand. Not your fault. Get some help from your doctor. Bennie >
