That low Ferritin is definitely playing a role in tolerating thyroid

hormones. You give me no labs to even have a clue what is going on. No

tempos.. Come on to even give an educated guess I will need more than

just this

I know I would switch from T4 to cytomel.

-- diarrhoea with T4

Hi All

I’ve been having some really weird problems with my meds recently, and need

help!

I’ve gone from not being able to tolerate Armour or T4 at all and needing

30-40mg H/C a day to now needing 125mcg Thyroxine/T4 and only 20mg H/C a

day, within 2 weeks. (Previous to this I was stable on 25mg H/C and 3 grains

Armour).

I don’t know why this is happening, and I’m very happy to have decreased my

H/C dose as the high dose was making me depressed and very irritable. This

has now improved, but my need for Thyroxine keeps rising and I’ve got severe

diarrhoea, which I think is caused by the T4. I have very sensitive bowels

and if I swallow Armour or H/C I get diarrhoea so I used to take them

sub-lingually (ie dissolve under tongue) but I can’t really do that with T4.

I think my low Ferritin may not be helping, its 5. It was low last year and

I had iron injections which raised it to 70 but its plummeted again, don’t

know why. I daren’t take iron supps as they aggravate the diarrhoea……………

All so frustrating, any ideas anyone?

Thanks for any help,

Emma Greener
