Hello to everyone in the group. My name is Hal Weese & I'm an ETTO

with Metro Nashville Emergency Communications in Nashville, TN. I've

got a problem which I really need some input on. We recently (within

the past year) consolidated our center & needless to say, there's a

lot of training to be done. We have made quite a bit of progress but

it seems like a game of " catch-up. " Not only are we training

seasoned Police dispatchers to Fire / EMS dispatch, we continue to

bring on new-hires for calltaking & this month marks the first Police

dispatch class in over a year.

As you all know, the documentation of training is very important in

our profession. Here's my problem. We are currently using what is

in my opinion, an antiquated computer program in which to document

evaluations. It is pretty general in nature and combines calltaking,

EMD & radio training...all in the same eval, but does not have the

capability of being tailored to concentrate on one single phase of

training. It's not the first program we've tried and hopefully won't

be the last.

What I want is some input from those of you in the group on how

evaluations are done in your agency & if you are happy with what you

use. I'm looking for anything in which to make our job as training

officers a little easier without sacrificing the quality of

evaluations.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

-Hal
