Hi Jeff D.,

You mentioned brain-stem induced strokes. When I had my one and only brain surgery 5 years ago it was because of this reason. My hearing was perfect and I had no symptoms other than atrocious balance, but because the tumour was growing up against and pushing the brain stem they had to remove it. I wanted to leave things as they were but when Prof Kaye explained the risk of dropping dead from a stroke caused by pressure on the brain stem I had a pretty rapid change of heart. Mind you during the surgery I had to be revived anyway, but that's another story...

Georgia, still alive and kicking.

GEORGIA,

Did you have any side effects from the surgery? They had to revive you?

Oh my God. That sounds scary.

Also someone " out there " suggested I check out the achieves. How and

where do I do that. Maybe my answers are there and I won't have to keep

bothering all of you.

JD, Don't worry too much about bothering anyone. This crew is here for each

other. Questions are encouraging and educating. If we didn't ask questions

we would not know there are others experiencing similar things nor would we

learn anything. Ask away.

Regarding the archives, I need to be reminded of the answer to that one

myself.

Faith, Hope, & Love,

Anne

Georgia,

You say you had an AN growing and pushing up against the brain stem. You

had it removed to prevent a brain stem induced stroke. Has the tumor

grown back any in 5 years? Also tell me what you think about this one

doctor's statement to me. " Your brain stem is about the size of your

wrist and is very hard. Your tumors are soft like jelly and will grow to

areas of least resistance. I don't think you'll have a brain stem induced

stroke. Now the tumor may grow and cause other problems before you need

to worry about a stroke. " This is almost word for word what he said. The

reason I ask is because I had an equally important neurosurgeon tell me I

needed an operation right away. And not to wait too long before having it

removed. Or I would have a brainstem unduced stroke. I know everyone is

different but I would REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR (or anyone else's) OPINION.

Thanks,

Believe me JD - the brainstem moves. I have seen MRIs showing this to be

true.
