I am hot a lot of the time also, but it happened wayyyyyy before Armour! I

started feeling hot in my early 40's. I am not always hot, but on the days I am

I have a fan on my desk at work! The Armour didn't seem to make any difference

that way.

a,

How much Armour are you on now? How long did it take to double your dose, and

did you have any problems?

I too would like to know how much Armour you are on. I became HOT

when I hit 3gr. My labs showed Free's below midrange. I had great

labs at 5gr. I am now at 7,1/2gr with no hyper symptoms. I know that

I am over range now. I cannot imagine going higher?

What is a gal to do???

synthroid and temps were immediately okay. I know what it is like. My

house was located on the prairies then and it was over 40 below

outside and I couldn't tolerate heat in my bedroom, slept naked in

that cold room and was still hot. It was grossly intolerable.

MORE armour. I switched from synthroid back to armour and upped my

dose, doubling it and have been taking it for six months without the

heat problem this time around.

doctor and she agreed to experiment a bit, and now my thyroid is

working at optimum and I have lost weight and have more energy so the

doctor was happy to prescribe the higher dosage.

Gale:

If I did not have the reverse T3 problem I would have stayed on Armour and

not known the difference. Now that I am on T3, I would never go back on

Armour unless it was 2 grains or under. I had palps every night, was hot,

etc. I am now on much less T3 compared to the strength of Armour and am

doing fine. It is possible I am allergic to something in Armour.

-- Re: Hot

Thanks .

I am going to give the T3 a try. I really cannot go on being so d***

hot all of the time. Do you plan on staying on the T3 or eventually

going back to Armour?

I already posted but it is not showing up so I apolagize if this comes

through twice.

7 1/2 grains sound like an awful lot!! I will bet you are making reverse T3

which is blocking the receptors from T3 binding. ANd the only T3 you are

getting is from Armour, not from making any from the T4 you are getting.

I would be concerned about being on a dose that high. I think your being

hot is an indicator you are on too much. What is your pulse running?

-- Re: Hot

,

Thanks so much for such detailed information on switching. I am

currently on 7,1/2 gr of Armour & hope that I need much less T3. I am

printing out your post for future reference.

And summer is drawing near. I hope you get this resolved soon. I agree with

, I've never heard of someone taking 7 grains of Armour.

I have charted my temps. They are very stable from day to day. I am

going to try the Cytomel & drop the Armour. I just cannot go on like

this. It is hot enough here in Texas without this added to it.

Really? I didn't think that seven grains was THAT much?

I am always running really HOT these days... I thought that it was a hypo thing

and that I just needed to get my Armour optimized? Now you guys have me

wondering? I am on 4 1/4 grains.

What has your pulse been running? To me that is a better indicator of

thyroid levels with all the crummy thermometers around and with things like

eating and chewing gum effecting temps.

I agree . This is why I am going to try Cytomel. I suspect

that most of the T4 is being converted to RT3. That means that

7,1/2gr of Armour is giving me 60 mcg of T3...??? That may very well

be not enough for me.

right but the T3 from Armour would not be binding to the receptor sites

since they would be blocked by the reverse T3, I would think.

That sounds like a perfectly normal pulse to me. When I was on 4 grains or

even 3 grains of Armour, my pulse ran in the high 90s all the way up to the

120s resting. Now it is in the 70's and 80's. It does not really make

sense unless the pulse was high from being hypo. and now I am no longer as

hypo.

Thanks for your help. Summer is here in TX. This is why I am at a

crossroad. I am going to drop the Armour & start T3. The only

alternative is to go off all thyroid meds. I may as well go out & dig

my own grave. Lol

Gail - I know that when we are not well, we feel like the walking dead. It

shouldn't reallly hurt if you try straight t3...I pray it works for you.
