Guest guest
I would get hot using Armour, even one grain. I have not gotten hot using T3 only, so far. -- Hot I am beginning my 3rd try with HC. In the past it has raised my BP a lot so I quit. I have not had my addrenals tested but I believe that my cortisol is high. I have worked up to 7,1/2gr of Armour & never had a problem with raises. The only problem that I have ever had is that when I hit about 3gr I became HOT. At that time my labs showed below midrange on T4 & T3. I am just wondering if anyone else has had the problem with overheating & corrected it with HC? I am afraid that if this does not help that I will have to stop Armour & go to a synthic. BTW, both thyroid-s & armour affect me this way. Gale
Guest guest
, Were you hot all of the time on Armour? For me it is 24/7. I really think that I may have to quit the Armour & try something else. I am in Texas & cannot afford to run my air conditioner on 69 all summer. Not to mention that I have continued to gain weight the whole 10 months that I have been on Armour. I am at my witts end. Guest guest
Thanks Val. I will research low aldosterone. I forgot the other symptom that I have struggled with is excessive adrenaline. Guest guest
Yes, I was hot a lot on Armour. Now I am not but I sweat a bit more on T3. I got off the Armour due to the lethargy and weight gain. If you are gaining weight then it is making reverse T3 that the T3 in Armour is having to compete with. So you need cytomel instead. Just my opinion. -- Hot > > I am beginning my 3rd try with HC. Guest guest
gradually made the switch. I no longer take Armour. I noticed the difference as soon as I started weaning down the Amour. Guest guest
I use natural progesterone creme daily. I used to use Prometrium until I found out it has peanut oil as a solvent. So I don't see how I can be deficient in p. I am no longer hot on T3, just on Armour. I just think Armour is too strong for me or that I am allergic to something in it as well as the dreaded reverse T3 problem. -- Hot > > > > I am beginning my 3rd try with HC. Guest guest
I don't know if I answered this or not. It has been since the middle of March. I weaned from 4 grains to 3 grains before I added T3. I then weaned quickly from 3 grains to 2 then 1grain. That took only a week or two cause I substituted 20 mcg of T3 for 1 grain of Armour. I am not using cytomel and suspect this is why Mo is having problems. Perhaps she is getting generic cytomel or a foreign brand and we really do not know the quality. Just a guess. I am getting my T3 compounded at a compounding pharmacy. It is actually cheaper than cytomel if I ordered cytomel from one of the recommended foreign dealers. I am no longer depressed and am able to exercise again. Mowed the lawn twice since starting so things are on the upswing. -- Hot > > > > I am beginning my 3rd try with HC. Guest guest
So you are saying 20 mcg of T3 for each grain of Armour? That sounds simple enough. I will have to use something from " the list " . My doc only prescribes Armour. He would rather give me an AD to treat my symptoms. Thanks for your help. Gale > > > > > > I would get hot using Armour, even one grain. Guest guest
Thanks . I am going to give the T3 a try. I really cannot go on being so d*** hot all of the time. Do you plan on staying on the T3 or eventually going back to Armour? I already posted but it is not showing up so I apolagize if this comes through twice. Guest guest
Gale: I was on 4 grains of Armour a day. The day my T3 arrived I dropped to 3 grains and added 20 mcg of extended release T3 in the morning. I decided to use my old extended release since it would not dump too much T3 all at once, into my body. I did this for several days. (20 mcg extended release in the morning, 2 grains Armour) I then did 1 grain Armour and 20 mcg extended release in the morning plus 20 mcg regular release troche under the tongue. I felt much better upon awakening in the mornings. I then dropped to 2 grains and started 20 mcg under the tongue (not extended release this time) in the morning and 20 mcg extended release at that evening. After several days I dropped to 1 grain and did 20 mcg am and p plus 10 mcg extended release at lunch. I am sure this would not be recommended here but my doc said that 1 grain of Amour is weaker than 20 mcg of T3. I then stopped all Armour since it did not seem to make a difference and I added an extended release of 20 mcg T3 at lunch. However, I am weaning of extended release as I am running out. So now I am at 20 mcg in the morning. 20 in the evening. I get palps in the evening and tried HC and it helped with palps. I have been feeling good so unfortunately I forget my doses. I average 20 in the morning and 20 in the evening. If I feel especially tired I up it to 30 in the morning and 20 evening. At times I have tried 40 in the morning and 20 in the evening. I get hyper with 40 so for now, it is 20 am, 20 pm with 10-20 at lunch -- Re: Hot Thanks , I am so miserably hot that I am ready to give the straight T3 a try. Armour obviously is not working for me. Guest guest
Hi Gail, I used to have that problem when taking Armour; switched to synthroid and temps were immediately okay. I know what it is like. My house was located on the prairies then and it was over 40 below outside and I couldn't tolerate heat in my bedroom, slept naked in that cold room and was still hot. It was grossly intolerable. Then I read on the thyroid group last fall that it means you need MORE armour. I switched from synthroid back to armour and upped my dose, doubling it and have been taking it for six months without the heat problem this time around. Hope you are able to try that remedy. I had a long talk with my doctor and she agreed to experiment a bit, and now my thyroid is working at optimum and I have lost weight and have more energy so the doctor was happy to prescribe the higher dosage. Good luck, a wrote: Gail, I'm running out of ideas. Can you try taking your daily average temperature for a few days to see if you have a thyroid issue?
