Guest guest
, I think you maybe had a low blood sugar (hypoglycemic) episode. Are you on any medications for diabetes? I was on Prednisone and it caused diabetes so I was taking pills for that. However, we could never get the pills in balance and I would have episodes mostly in the middle of the night where I'd feel ready to pass out and clammy, just a you described. I'd have to get some sugar into me quick and it would reverse. Something like a piece of hard candy or a glass of orange juice. I soon stopped taking the medication and control my blood sugar with diet. The prednisone and any other drug you are taking can be messing with your insulin production. You might want to see what your blood glucose level is when you feel that way. It might just be a good idea to not go hungry and keep your glucose at a good normal level. Your doctor can prescribe a glucose monitoring kit. BillG Camarillo, CA
Guest guest
Hi .... Well I've catnapped all day long. Then I had to get hay and I can tell you that it took all of my energy, what little I have left. I've been sick to my stomach all day, that is when I'm awake. Since I've had this disease I've had plenty of dental problems. I've talked to a lot of people with the same story. My teeth are forming fractures in the root. Oh Joy! Hey, you talked about your jaw not opening all the way. When I entered the hospital I was just like that... Had been that way for about 7 months. It felt like it was locked in place. Once I got out of the hospital I could open my mouth again. They told me the inflammation had affected the muscles in my jaws. Makes sense to me... I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's wallet.... My gosh, you must know the saying... when it rains it pours. If you're still having strange feelings, especially on one side, you need to be seen. Try to get in to the ER tomorrow or as soon as you can. Look up Stroke and see if the symptoms fit. Don't worry about running to the ER if nothing is wrong. You are having very unusual symptoms and I think you need to be seen. Hope you're having a good day. Take care, Vicki
Guest guest
Oh Vicki.....I so hope today is a better day for you!!!! The dental stuff is VERY interesting....cannot for the life of me figure out the connection and yet there seems to be something there. I have always had "weak" teeth and woud always have one or two that needed fillings every 6 months when I would go in, but in the last three years they have taken a dramatic turn for the worse and are basically all trying to crumble out of my head at the moment (and accomplishing it too!!). All the teeth I have left are gonna have to be crowned, but even with us working diligently to try and get ahead of the problem, I have now lost all but one molar on top on one side, and two are left on the other. We never can tell which one is gonna be the next to go, so like in the hospital, one that seemed atleast reasonably stable broke off at the gum line while I was eating a piece of bread!! It was a bummer too because it was one of the few upper molars I have left to chew with!!! There seems to be a link with mito over here with it too, and my son (8) has already had major problems with his teeth too, so it must have something to do with having a systemic disease maybe. Who knows. I am SO hopeful that I am gonna be able to open my mouth again!!! Thanks for giving me some (had kinda decided maybe this was just the way it is from now on). I can open mine minimally, but have to "fit" things like sandwiches in there because its not open enough to get even a normal sized one in. No pain or anything, just stops there and won't open any more!! Mine started when all of my joints started to be affected by the arthritis, and I have two fingers too that only bend so far now. Maybe, just maybe, this is gonna improve!!! I'll keep hoping so atleast. Thanks so much for the feedback and for sharing this with me. Thanks a ton for the encouragment to get into the ER......its always such a pain to go!!! But I know there is something odd happening here and I don't want to just ignore it. As much as I hate it, I do think there is a good chance that I have had a stroke, or stroke-like episode, which is something common with the type of mito I think we are dealing with over here. I am a bit scared to even find out for sure, but know I need to know. I promise I'll keep you posted!!! Feel better today friend!!! BIG hugs, anzavic@... wrote: Hi .... Guest guest
Dear , I agree with Vicki that you should get your symptoms checked thoroughly. Several years ago my dad had a TIA (transitory ischemia attack)--which has something to do with circulation and the brain--somehow it is related to a stroke or is a "pre-stroke" or something. I hope you find answers soon. Ann-Marie Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Guest guest
.... here's something..... Now you may not have even had one of these but it does need to be checked out. What is Transient Ischemic Attack? A transient ischemic attack (TIA) is just like a stroke, except that it lasts only a few minutes. It occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is briefly interrupted. TIA symptoms, which usually occur suddenly, are similar to those of stroke but do not last as long. Most symptoms of a TIA disappear within an hour, although they may persist for up to 24 hours. Symptoms can include: numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body; confusion or difficulty in talking or understanding speech; trouble seeing in one or both eyes; and difficulty with walking, dizziness, or loss of balance and coordination. Guest guest
Vicki and , I, too, have a big problem with fractured teeth. Last year, I made three emergency trips to the dentist for that reason...REALLY adds to the feeling that we are literally falling apart a piece at a time, doesn't it? I don't know if it's the disease or the meds. Annette THANK YOU and more Hi .... Well I've catnapped all day long. Guest guest
Kass, My name is Fern. I am a nurse. I have been out of site for a few weeks due to a business trip we took with my husband. The spell you describe with fainting, sweating, chills, and pain down your arm are all symptoms of heart problems and with your history, I would NOT ignore it if it happens again. My advice would be to go to the ER immediately. Who cares if you get told it is okay, it is better to be safe than sorry. I cannot believe that your doctor brushed this off as a prednisone reaction. I have never heard of such an acute reaction to prednisone!!! Gentle hugs, Fern
Guest guest
Hi Fern... so glad to have you back. How are you doing? Recouping from vacation I suppose.... Thanks for jumping in and urging . I'm very worried about her. I agree with you about the doctor. Seems to me that to many of them blame Prednisone right off the bat without even examining the individual. Well, I do hope you're resting and recouping. Take care, Vicki
