Guest guest
I am pregnant and gaining weight rather quickly for me. This is baby #6 for me, so I think I have a pretty good idea of what is " normal " weight gain for me, but then again, I'm fairly sure by symptoms that I've had adrenal problems and thyroid with all my previous babies. Now my lab tests are all nice, my adrenals seem to be doing good (although once in a while if I'm too tired, my daytime temps will get a little erratic). However, I'm gaining tons of weight for ME for this pregnancy. I'm a very thin person, and I usually gain between 18-25 pounds the whole pregnancy. This time, I'm 19 weeks along and I've already gained 34 pounds. I feel huge, but it's all in my belly and not really all over me. My midwife is sending me for an ultrasound for that famous " twins " check, but I just wanted to ask here if it's possible that gaining a little more weight this time is actually healthy for me? Maybe I've always been skinny and had worn-out adrenals, and now my body is trying to make up for some of that? Any opinions on this? Oh, I should mention that my blood sugar levels are fine as well. Guest guest
Well they say if you're underweight to begin with, you're supposed to gain between 35-40 lbs. I'm pregnant too and I started off underweight and will probably hit the 40 lb limit. I did with my first also. Maybe this time your body is doing what it's supposed to do in pregnancy because your thyroid and adrenals are good. Do you mind if I ask, with your other kids, since you had adrenal problems, have you noticed any of them having this problems themselves? I'm concerned that if I don't have enough cortisol, my baby would be supplementing it for me and would in turn be born with burnt out adrenals. Are you on HC? I'm not. What symptoms told you that you had adrenal problems in your other pregnancies? I started off with high cortisol levels but am not sure at this point if my adrenals have burnt out. Thanks! > > I am pregnant and gaining weight rather quickly for me. Guest guest
Can you find an ob/gyn that specialized in thyroid issues relative to pregnancy? You need to have your labs checked at least every 6 weeks and adjust your thyroid meds accordingly (increasing) throughout your entire pregnancy. What do you mean that your labs are " nice? " Can you give the results with the given ranges? SAMMIE --- Kraig and Anne Elliott wrote: > I am pregnant and gaining weight rather quickly for > me.
