I went like a good big girl as expected.

His nurse gave me the evil eye when she found out I quit taking the meds he

had me on and she dismissed Armour as being an OLD medicine that is not as

good as Snythoid. Also made a point to tell me it was made from pigs

gland. I also told her I was only using the virgin coconut oil right now

and wanted an Armour prescription. She again gave me the evil eye and

wanted to argue with me and I pretty much put a stop to it right away and

told her that when she became my doctor we could discuss it and until that

happened I would discuss it with my doctor. It kind of surprised me

because she has always been very cordial and all.

Doctor finally comes in and starts asking how I'm doing and I told him

extremely well and I had not felt this good in years. He asked, " you really

are " and I told him I was. He started reading what the nurse wrote when she

took my stats and realized I had quit taking the meds he had me on totally.

And also the fact that I dropped 11 pounds in 3 weeks because of stopping

using that 'crap' and using the virgin coconut oil as well as my apple cider

vinegar cocktail helped me get rid of those fluids and poisons in my body.

He proceeded to ask me why I believed the virgin coconut oil was a good

product for Thyroid people. He seem concerned about my not taking any

Thyroid meds and I told him I had a solution to that as well and asked him

if he was familiar with Armour and he was very well versed in it. But he

also gave me that shocked look when I told him I wanted to try it. He told

me it's an excellent product that doctors pretty much stopped using in the

early 40's when synthetics came out because they never could find a way back

then to stabilize Armour into dissolving or some such thing in our system

and Snythoid took the guess work out of it. He even admitted it would be a

better product if they could have solved that issue. He also stated that

it's hard to find a place to fill a prescription. I told him I had already

found 3 doctors within a 50-60 mile radius of me that would treat Thyroid

patients using the Armour and then he made comment about my insurance being

Tricare Prime (military) and that he didn't think I could get it filled. I

advised him I had that covered as well and that I could get it through a

military mail order plan and if I had not been able to I would pay for it

out of pocket if necessary to get it. He then gave me a prescription for

60 mg daily for 30 days.

He saw how upbeat I was, cheerful, and had lost 11 pounds since he saw me a

month ago. So he told me since I quit taking those meds to continue doing

just what I was doing and come back in 90 days and they will run the blood

test again and see what my levels are. If I do well it may be I won't even

need the Armour so I've got it sitting here and haven't done anything with

the prescription.

Don't know if he's truly sincere (he's always been) and really wants to

check my blood count fresh without in taking any meds for 90 days or if he

hopes to disprove my theory that I do need those meds. But thing is I

have still that Ace in the hole to use the Armour if he says in the next

test that I do still need some type of meds.

I also let him and his nurse know that I had been reading up on this stuff

and found that labs that do the testing use a pyramid chart to dispense meds

for various conditions and that I realized that many of us can fall into a

certain portion of a pyramid and all be given the same dose but isn't

necessarily appropriate for everyone in that category because everyone is

different.

He's always been fair and willing to allow me to do what I want when it

comes to using natural herbal in my diet and I think also the fact that I

already found 3 doctors local enough to me who will treat a Thyroid patient

may have swayed him to really go along with me, not that he wouldn't have

anyway because he usually does.

I think he also realized that in the 4 years I've been his patient that I

haven't been this upbeat in all that time full of energy, no pain, no side

effects of anything I'm taking. So he may be sincere in wanting to let me

go the 90 days without any type of meds, not even Armour, to make sure all

meds are out of my system and do another test which will hopefully be on the

positive side.

When he started me on those meds 4 years ago it was always a very low doze

up till last year when he started raising it and that was when I started

having problems and more so this year when he raised it to 100 mg. He had

me on 25mg for more then 2 1/2 years then all of a sudden raised it to 50,

then 75 and then 100 earlier this year. I started having problems with 50

on up but didn't realize it was the meds doing it until I stopped taking

them about 3 weeks ago now.

I feel well, have more energy, sleep well, don't have my body jerking while

I sleep, don't have numbness in my body, tingling and other things. I also

don't have headaches anymore, nor are my allergies bothering me and have

always had problems with that and use to take over the counter allergy meds.

The reason for the change in this though may be because about a week ago I

started on a natural source called Aller-Response that I purchased out of

the health food store which has done wonders for me. Being in the deep

south we are bothered year round with pollen and such things, this stuff

seems to have helped put things in balance along with my virgin coconut oil

and apple cider vinegar cocktails. Anyway this ALLER-RESPONSE has

Quercetin, Ginkgo & Synephrine as well as Vitamins A, B6, B12, C, Calicum,

Magnesium, Zinc, and other herbal ingredients. I take two in the morning

and one in the afternoon. Some days I only take two and other days now I

don't take the Aller-response if I don't need it unlike having to take the

over the counter meds a couple times a day.

I have not had any desire for candy bars, ice cream, chips, and all that

other junk food we tend to eat since I started this regime. I'm also not

eating as much food in one setting as I use to. Don't even have a desire

for my favorite meats which was beef steak, pizza's, nor for my favorite

Polish Sausage, or cold cuts. All the worst food we could eat in the

world. I still enjoy my beef but now cook roast in the slow cooker or oven

in it's natural juices about once a week or every couple weeks. Haven't

had a desire for pork chops or ham either. Naturally I love turkey and

chicken and seldom eat that unless it is broiled or baked anyway or use in

stir fries and such without the skin. I've always like fish such as cod,

flounder, whiting, scallops and such and shrimp so that isn't a problem

baking or broiling in the oven as well with either pure virgin olive oil or

virgin coconut oil brushed on top.

Now in the next 90 days I have to really work at this to prove to this

doctor that I don't need there meds by a change in diet and learning how to

eat properly for a Thyroid condition using naturally food substances so I

have to keep my cholesterol down and my levels of good/bad fats accurate to

balance it off the way it should be.

IMHO I believe THAT FOR ME so I'm not speaking for all others that have

Thyroid conditions that if we are persistent and learn how to eat right,

exercise and such that most medical conditions can be brought under control

without those synethic drugs. We just have to educate ourselves that's all

and then use that education to make ourselves better.

I'm just happy that this Doctor (from Middle East originally) is not like

most American doctors and willing to allow patients to work to make

themselves better. Of course if a course of action offered were not in my

best interest he wouldn't go along with it but he admitted that the

information I gave him certainly does help Thyroid patients. I think he

finds it refreshing to find at least a patient here and there especially

here in America who isn't hung up on getting fixed by taking pills and such

but willing to go to natural foods and supplements to help heal themselves.

Carol Louise

Carol Louise...

I may have missed your earlier posts... what was the original reason for

being put on thyroid meds? what were your labs then?

Some women develop thyroid irregularities during pregnancy which clear up

after giving birth.. but it's extremely unusual for someone with a

thyroid disorder to 'cure' it....

I'd be really curious to see your labs and hear more of your original

symptoms and reasons for having been put on thyroid to begin with.....

.... I'd be really interested in this....

your story serves to prove that point!! Major clapping from Janie in

Colorado--can you hear me??

How much coconut oil are you using every day, by the way, and how

are you using it??

Janie, still clapping..

Hi Carol Louise,

I remember that you posted your apple cider vinegar cocktail recipe

earlier, but I didn't get it copied down. Could you repost it please?

Also, where do you buy your extra virgin coconut oil from?

Thank you ahead of time.

About the allergies: I live in the south also and developed the

allergies late in life (I'm 50). I was taking claritin or allegra

regularly. Since starting armour the first of Feb, I have not taken

anything except thre doses of tylenol sinus.

About the sweets: I've lost my craving for sweets also.

About the foriegn docs: I have a friend who has had major health

problems all her life... nearly died a couple of times. She says the

foriegn docs are the best because many times, they have to go to school

twice as much as other doc...in their own country then in the US. Plus

they come from an area that doesn't have access to all the latest tests

and equipment and therefore are used to having to listen to the patient

rather than having the luxury of machines and tests to do their job.

Blessings,

Debbie K.
