Guest guest
I had anemia also and took slow fe (2 tabs 1 time a day). I took it for 2 months and my anemia is gone. (But I also had a D & C and am on BC pills to help the monthly periods).
Guest guest
Hi- I am bleeding profusely-large clots plopping out of me daily for almost a month now. Am very anemic and the iron that I was given-ferrous sulfate-has not been absorbing well, has been constipating and irritating my stomach. Went to the health food store and just got confused by all the choices-does anyone have any suggestions? Need iron fast! Thanks, Cyn __________________________________________________

I hope that doesn't make it less appealing! I've never had any trouble from it as long as I take it with food. Jen
Guest guest
One doctor (a female osteopath who has fibroids and looks at things non traditionally) suggested Natrol prenatal vitamins. She said they are a little easier to take than some iron supplements. Sometime they are hard to find, but some health food stores carry them (I don't think GNC does though). Hope this helps. Guest guest
My doctor recommended a combination that has worked well for me when my levels were very low.. I took 1 Slow Fe each day along with a multiple vitamin/mineral, Cetrum brand, to give me what I needed to help with absorption of iron. When my levels were back into the normal range, he had me stop taking the slow fe -- the multiple vitamin with iron has been enough to maintain normal levels (but this might not be true for everyone. If I get lax about taking the daily vitamin it doesn't take long before I notice breathlessness while exercising and I go back on the slow fe for awhile. Good luck. Guest guest
hey...that's just smart shopping! ;-)! I had great results and no side effects. My Hct and Hgb were in the men's normal range! hahaha. If you drink alot of water...and who drinks daily as much as we should, alot of the constipation probs would vanish I think. gg wrote: > At 07:10 PM 8/3/2002, Geraldine Schaumburg wrote: > >I took slow Fe from the health food store with great results. no side > >effects. gg > > I also take Slow Fe, which I get at Target. Guest guest
For the first time in almsot a year I am not anemic. I am still bleeding heavily and continuously but did stop for 10 days recently. Someone on this group recommended Floradix (not sure of the spelling) which I found at my local health food market. I took Floradix twice a day which I mixed in with orange juice, 2 SloFe a day and one multivitamin with iron. I have had no constipation. When I do feel like I am getting constipated I snack on Fiber One cereal and that takes care of it. My blood level was 8.5 two weeks ago but I was told it takes a few weeks to build red blood cells. A repeat CBC yesterday revealed an 11.5!!!! and my hemoglobin was 40. Also, has anyone heard of Procrit for anemia? I received a shot yesterday (before we got the CBC results back).
