HI! I am new to e-group. I signed on to uticaria at listbot a few days ago.

I have been so sleepy from starting a new medication Tuesday night-Doxopine.

I have had hives since April. They are all over my head and pop out on my

neck shoulders and upper back. I have had staph infection probably from

scratching. I've used bactroban-a topical antibiotic and Cephlex an oral

antibiotic. This past weekend the hives looked like a bad case of measles.

My rheumatologis prescribed doxopine which totally knocked me out. I have

missed two days of work. My primary care doc referred me for an allergy

workup although the assumption is that the CU is autoimmune as is rheumatoid

disease and low thyroid.I have been on hydroxozine and wash my hair with

coaltar shampoo for relief. So I have been in pain and itch. The worst part

is not being able to get the things I need and want to do done. Thank upu

for listening. I take comfort in reading the e-mails. Does anyone have

multiple autoimmune stuff going on?ThanksB.J/

Hi Dawn and all,

I actually asked about how and when you take pred as my allergist is

very very fussy about that, he says that taking it correctly reduces the

side effect enormously, and I must say that I have not ever had a moon

face, neither have I put on too much weight from it, nor have I

experienced sleepless nights, maximum about 4 kilos. He says you should

avoid taking it daily, better to increase the dose but take it on

alternate days, and, very important, exactly half an hour after you wake

up with a large amount of water, never take it during the day unless its

an absolute emegency. This way of taking it interfers with your natural

hormone production as little as possible.I think I have a great doctor,

even if he cant find the cause of my cu, so please take note folks.

Hugs to you all

Lynda
