Guest guest
Do not take the meds prior to the test the day of the test and stay on this dose till after the test, then I would cut half the afternoon dose completely and wait for the test results to see what to do next! HELP PLEASE - NEW MEMBER !!!!! Hi Everyone, I hope you can advise me as i dont know what to do next. Last summer i was cruising along happily on 2 grains Armour. Come winter, all my symptoms returned with a vengeance, so, instead of upping the dose which i now know is the sensible thing to do, i started tinkering with different medication. Firstly, 25mg Thyroxine (T4) and half 25 mcg T3 - that made me feel dreadful. In January i had a 24 hour urine test and had to wait at least six weeks for the results, meanwhile i put myself back on Armour starting with and staying on 1 grain. All the time i was getting worse, weight creeping on, no energy, etc. Eventually the doctor told me that the urine test revealed that i was very low in both T3 and T4. Then i started on the T3 only protocol, working up to 50 mgs. In the beginning i felt great and lost weight. The only thing was my muscles still ached. Then i wasn't feeling so good so this weekend i decided to go back on the Armour. I stupidly took 1 grain in the morning and 1 grain in the afternoon which is probably too much and felt terrible afterwards. Since Monday i have reduced the dose to half a grain of Armour only and have started 2.5 mg hydrocortisone a day as i am convinced there is an adrenal problem also. This brings me to today, I feel so bad i dont know what to do next. By afternoon i have palpitations, nausea, restlesness, just feeling very bad. Which brings me to this message board, i dont know if i am over- medicated or under. I dare not increase the armour in case i make myself worse. I am scheduled for a blood test on Friday and dare not change the dose so it can at least give me a starting point. Can anyone help please? I am desperate
Guest guest
Hi there orlando1088. Sorry to hear about your situation. You know, I think you hit the nail square on the head when you said you should have simply upped your dose last summer. Possibly 2 grains wasn't enough, so your hypo came back. You mentioned that you recently tried one grain in the morning and another in the afternoon, and felt bad. How did you feel bad? Was it worse than before? Are you working with a good Armour doc? Sounds like that could be helpful to get you back up to that 2 grains and beyond....And were you taking it sublingually? That can help with absorption. Another idea is to have your Ferritin checked! There seems to be a connection with low Ferritin (storage iron) and being hypo in a lot of folks here, myself included. Low Ferritin could also explain your symptoms, including the palps. Also, the palps you mention could be because of that low thyroid support you've been on again, causing your adrenals to overreact. Some folks here NEED adrenal support. Some, like myself, had their adrenal overreaction cease once the optimal dose of Armour was found. One gal here felt worse when she tried adrenal support. Everyone has to figure out where they are with adrenals. You stay in touch with us and let us know what you find out. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for responding so quickly. When i went straight into 2 grains i had terrible muscle/joint aches and palps. i am so baffled as to why i should react badly to the smallest dose Armour. I am only taking half a grain each morning, scared to increase it. Will also take the advice given regarding waiting until i have had my blood test before taking Armour. Perhaps i will lay off the hydrocortisone tomorrow...... Its just not knowing whether its too much or too little.- Any info you have will be greatly appreciated -- In NaturalThyroidHormones , " loboshe " <usns@r...> wrote: > Hi there orlando1088. Guest guest
How soon after you took those 2 grains did you experience the aches and palps?? And how long did the aches and palps last? Also, again, have you ever had your Ferritin tested?? It could help explain what it going on.... Janie > Thanks everyone for responding so quickly.
