Guest guest
Cari... It does bother me that my daughter is so far away. I know at times it also bothers her... she would love to have someone she can depend on to help with the kids. I really enjoy talking to the kids when I get the chance. Of all the kids in the world, my grand kids are probably the only ones that hate talking on the phone. Sophie talking to me 4 times the other day was a complete shock. They even hate talking to their own friends. Maybe one day all will come together and I'll get my chance to get over there. Take care, Vicki
Guest guest
Teddi... I deleted the doctors name since you didn't need it... it's now long gone. Sorry... I'll try to find it again. Also, Call the MDA and ask them. I'm sure you'll be able to go to them. Vicki

Guest guest
My parents visited Australia last winter. They had a wondeful time and said it was a beautiful country. It had always been a dream of theirs to take a vacation there. What brought your daughter to Australia? Guest guest
got up Friday morning for school just fine. He said he wasn't going to go to school because it is just to long to be gone. I agree with him!! Here in Georgia the Kindergarteners go all day! Crazy and too long for any 5 year old. I am sure every Kindergartener in GA. told their parents the same thing on the 2nd day. I am sure I will hear it again on Monday morning. Otherwise, he did fine. He slept again on Friday during rest time. As you all know, he must of been exhausted to have fallen asleep. I am glad he is getting some good down time there. So far so good. Guest guest
Hi Cari.... Actually, when my daughter graduated from high school she wanted to do some traveling. Mom said " Ok honey, that would be very nice " .... how stupid I was.... That started at 18. Little did I know what she had in mind. She's lived and worked all over the world. She decided early on to see what the really people lived like and to experience their way of life. After many years of traveling she was suppose to spend three months in New Zealand and three months in Australia then come home to settle down. Once she arrived in Australia she said she felt like it was home. The people were so nice, she found work right away and then found , whom she married. She's now been there for about 11 yrs. She's always been a simple type of girl. So she took to the simple life style. It's wonderful for her but I hate it... What's a mother to do....lol One thing she did learn while exploring the world is that Americans are very, very wasteful. I have to agree with that. Hope you have a good weekend .... Guest guest
Thanks Annette. I actually slept all night last night. Had been waking up around 3:00 am every morning for the past week and then had been unable to go back to sleep. I am not one to worry about things before they happen but I found going off to school weighed very heavy on my mind. Appreciate everyone's support. Guest guest
Vicki, Your daughter sounds like an amazing, brave woman...wonder where she got that from?...LOL... We raise our children to be independent, strong, individual thinkers and then it turns around and bites us in the butt. I think your daughter is right. Americans are incredibly wasteful. Guest guest
<<<Teddi... the insurance that Missy's mother has on her... will it cover her at the MDA? Vicki >> No it won't but we are going to try to get her on Medicaid......A friend of mine is good friends with one of our state senators and she is going to see if he can help in any way Besides, that insr we had on her was a total bust!! Guest guest
Hi Teddi.... Can you just go into the Medicaid office in your area and get the forms to fill out? When will she be coming back to OK? I haven't heard a word from her and she's got me worried. I'll be so happy when she gets back there. Guest guest
Teddi, is a Junior Goodwill Ambassador for the MDA. He sees a MDA neurologist twice a year. Really just to keep him in the MDA files. Dr. Sekul defers everything to 's Juvenile Rheumy. and I have made appearances for fundraisers around Augusta. When they do their Shamrocks, firefighters boot drives, lock-ups and such, and I will go over and meet with the firefighters, convience store managers etc... We tell our little story and thank all of the individuals for their time given to the MDA. I think it helps when they see a healthy little boy that research has really helped and that with their help all the MDA patients are that much closer to the happy ending that we are having with . enjoys it the attention. The myositis's aren't the big research projects of the MDA, but I think that when they cure any of these diseases that makes them that much closer to curing other diseases. 's school schedule will certainly be putting a crimp in his appearance schedule! I meet with the MDA mother's once a month for lunch. I have met a dear friend through them and the MDA rep. for our area has become a close friend, although she still can't pronounce Dermatomyositis. I hope your local MDA office will be a big help to you. Keep me posted. Guest guest
Good Morning Everyone... Teddi... Missy does need to go home. doesn't have the backbone he needs to take care of her. I'm afraid the longer her condition goes on the more permanent it might become and she's far to young for a wheel chair. Vicki
