Guest guest
Hello everyone, This is my first post. I have a 3 month old at home with a flat back of her head that seems to be getting worse. I read the aggressive repositioning strategies and have just a couple of Q's. What is the most current recommended place to buy foam so that I can make a foam pillow for my baby's plagiocephaly (brachicephaly)? Which type of foam should I buy? Or are there places now that I can be one premade? And if so is this better? Thanks, in advance FM
Guest guest
Hi, I'm not sure what kind of experience other people have had with the foam pillows, but my son used one from the time he was born and it did not work AT ALL! I bought it because it sounded like a good idea, but it didn't work. My doctor was not surprised to hear this. Maybe someone else has had better luck with them though. > Hello everyone, > > This is my first post. I have a 3 month old at home with a flat > back of her head that seems to be getting worse. Guest guest
Hi FM, I posted a big reply earlier, and it got lost somehow! Here is the shortened version: In the files/repo headquarters/repo photos folder, there is a photo and directions for making a Memory Foam Pillow that might be a help. This memory foam pillow was invented by a group member, and is basically a square ring with a square hole in it, so that the back of the baby's head is suspended off of the mattress. Some members who have ordered custom foam order from foamorder.com , if you'd like to visit the website. Are you thinking about putting a solid square of memory foam behind the back of your baby's head for nighttime? Even though it is a softer sleep surface, brachy babies can still continue to flatten and widen their head with this technique. There is a couple of sleep positioners that already have a memory foam pillow under the head area (ex: Dex Secure Sleeper.) Have you tried, or have you had any success with side sleeping or turning your daughter's head to one side for sleep? Your ped. should be able to give you some safety insight into trying these ideas. If you haven't done so already, you could check the files/repo headquarters folder. There are some documents in there to help with specifically repo'ing a brachy baby, how to check to see if repo is working, and how to document your repo efforts. I was concerned to hear that you think your baby's brachy is getting worse - is it getting worse in spite of repo efforts you have made until then? or are you just getting started with repo now? Would you let me know if I can be of help? We were able to use repo- only to treat our daughter's plagio/brachy (her progress photos are in the photos/before and after/repositioned/Remy folder if you'd like to take a look. Guest guest
I had good luck with the One Step Ahead sleep positioner with my daughter but she was tiny. I could see where a larger baby might roll off of it. Natasha > > Hello everyone, > > > > This is my first post. Guest guest
Hello, I'm not sure I can add to what the others already told you, but I did want to welcome you to the group. Good luck w/the repo! We tried, but weren't very successful b/c Hannah's plagio was so severe. We had her banded at 4.5 mos w/great results. Be sure to keep us posted. , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad 7/29 Cape Cod, Ma --- In Plagiocephaly , " fmendozamd " <fmendozamd@y...> wrote: > Hello everyone, > > This is my first post.
