Guest guest
, It is the MOST important thing about banding! You can have all the technology in the world, but if you have no idea what the hell you're treating the treatment won't be successful. I know everyone has to start somewhere as far as learning. I would perfer they experience on a dummy or a lizard instead of one of my children. I wish you luck! Please keep us posted on how the appt goes. Guest guest
, Experience is a very important consideration. We have links to lists of questions to ask the ortho that you may want to print out and take with you to the appt. on Friday. They are in the LINKS/HELMETS AND BANDS/INTERVIEWING THE ORTHO folder if you haven't already checked it out. Hanger has their own scanning system called Insignia, is that the technology you are referring to? Hanger may also have required training of its orthos specifically in their Hanger Cranial Band. Orthomerica, maker of the Starband, also offers non-required training to any orthos that are offereing their Starband. It may be worthwhile to see if this ortho has had specific training (in addition to any experience) in the Hanger Cranial Band or the Starband. I think Amy in MN said that the ortho at the Hanger location listed in Hibbing (see HELMET/BAND DATABASE in DATABASE section of the group, MN listings) appeared experienced (his name was Mark.) Is this who you went to see? Please let us know how your appt goes on Friday, and what your impressions are. Guest guest
Hi, I just wanted to second everything you've already been told about the importance of an experienced ortho. These bands and helmets in the hands of an inexperienced ortho can and DO cause more harm. We have had more then a few members who used as inexeprienced and the results were terrible! PLEASE make sure the ortho you're going to use has PLENTY of experience treating plagio babies!!!! > I have an appointment with Hanger Orhtotics next Friday.
