Hey I miss you too Sara !

Why don't you get Pete to write just a few words down so you at least know the subject of conversation, the chat should not have to stop. Most times it only takes one or two words for me to understand what's going on then contribute or DOMINATE the conversation ( Im good at that hahaha ) But what you write about happens to all of us deafies, it sucks no doubt about that. You are not alone in what you feel. Can't wait to get together again my friend .. Marcus

Hi Sara...Been there, done that...

I have lost many friends over the past 2 years, some who I thought

cared more than anything. Soon as I got real sick, closed my business,

most of them abandoned me.

I have trained myself to look at it as though it is their loss and

don't have a nice person in their life anymore.

Would any of your friends be willing to take a sign language course

with you? Or you might look into groups where you can find someone to do

things with, things you have in common with.

I also try to see their side of it...maybe they don't know how you

feel or how to handle the situation, especially the first friend you mentioned.

Can the two of you go to lunch by yourselves so you can have time with

her???

I think we are the ones who have to take the first step sometimes.

Knowing you from this board, I am glad you are in my life.

Without you guys here, I don't know where I would be! I tend

to have a pity-party sometimes too..LOL! But we are all allowed at some

point!

Hugs...Carol

Tonight I'm so sad. I'm just laying awake thinking. Thinking thinking its driving me nuts. My hearing friends both have kids and heres noone round here to do anything with my age. Makes me sad my best friends were like sisters t me then after I lost my heraing shari didn't understand or maybe she didn't try. Now everytime I try to talk to her about my problems she has to go. She doesn't like to hear much about good things tha happen to me either. Pete says it started when we built our house. My other dear friend is Nikki. She tries really hard to understand and listens and laughs we have a great time when we can but she has 2 young children who keep her quite occupied. Which brings my thoughts to the NF con and how fantastic it was to be around people who totally understod what it is like to be "me" Being in a room full of people who I finally could relax around I finally felt at home in the first time in years. Going to friends houses and visiting always ends up with me siting there while everyone laughs and has a great time around me. Then one of them will stop to tell me maybe one sentence in the conversation while the rest get real serious and stop and wait till the person actually gets "thru" to me so they can resume the fun. I miss all of you sooo much. I guess I am having a Sara pity party tonight. LOL Wish I could drink cause tonight calls for a beer i think lol. I get so tired on waiting on someone to drive me from here to there. I am actually thinking about investing in greyhound so I can do more. I had a pretty good day though don't know why I'm sad now. So pretty out and all our mom's loved their flower baskets I made them it made me feel really good to see them smile. Well the house is pretty cold guess I'll go back to bed now snuggle up to Pete. :) Maybe i'm just really tired. Been overdoing it I always get whiney when I'm tired LOL! Anyhow I do really miss you all and can't wait till I can see you again. Looks like we'll be going to Columbus in May!!! Geez Sara, you should have cometo Mike 's! I know exactly what you mean, I think we all do; the person I thought was my best friend has totally cut me off; I saw her maybe once in the past year; and I thought she was a very compassionate, intelligent person, and never thought she would act like this; it is tough enough to have to endure the isolation, but to be rejected by someone you really went out of your way for?? When we were at Mike's, the pencils were flying! Mike's whole family was writing and so patient!

How does the song go "Don't worry, be happy". I can only imagine how you must feel, as I haven't had to face a loss of hearing yet. It's amazing that some friends don't realise what they are losing by not understanding and communication with you.

I have a friend, who at times over the years, could be a little shallow. But when I was suffering very bad symptoms, prior to my diagnosis, she was there for me everyday for approx 4 months. Phone calls, visits, encouragement, more giving than even she could believe of herself. She helped sustain me through that period and I will always remember that. Us Scorpions, like Elephants, don't forget good.

Cuddle up to Pete, even if he is asleep, remember he's there for you. Oh' and it's only 11 months until the next CON.

Regards,

ine

:(

Tonight I'm so sad.
