She was one of those know-it-all types. But was fairly ignorant on the workings of " radios " and the like. So I told her she should count one thousand one, one thousand two and un-key the transmitter. My reasoning, I explained, was that if you un-key immediately saying your last word, the word would be cut off since on low band signals traveled from the transmitter to the receiver much more slowly than VHF or UHF. So for a couple years I worked with this person, they would end their spoken word and you could count 1, 2 and the transmitter would shut down. It was hilarious.
