Guest guest
I would write a letter of complaint about the PIG doctor and cc your pediatrician and the AMA. He's out of line. His job is to examine the patient and not comment on the parenting. Of course you are good parents - you took her to a specialist instead of ignoring her needs!!!My daughter used to scream at the sight of the pediatrician. He never told me I was a bad mother. He adjusted to the needs of the child. He took his white lab coat off so he appeared to be dressed in regular clothes and he stayed in the corner of the room not to alarm her. Get another doctor. > >Reply-To: urticaria >To: <urticaria > >Subject: Re: Great News and a cure.... >Date: Tue, 20 Mar 2001 14:20:18 -0500 > >Hi all~Well, TODAY MUST BE NATIONAL ITS ALL IN YOUR HEAD >DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
I think that's a very good idea to copy in Alena's pediatrician. It would be interesting to find out what his angle is on this. Guest guest
I went in for my first follow-up with the allergist. After all the things I have read from all of you (poor -Alena in particular), I wasn't sure what to expect today. I got a great doctor on my first shot. This doctor's name is Dr. Villareal and he is with the Fragge Allergy & Asthma Clinic in Covington, KY (northern KY). Well, I am not an 'allergic' person. But at least he explained what that meant. He ran not only the RAST tests, but also the allergen antibody test, as well as liver, thyroid, and some of the other tests that have been suggested here. I was very pleased to learn that he has done a lot of research and was very supportive of my internet research and this group support. As a matter of fact, he asked if the ICUS website had a chat group or support group before I could get that far. He pretty much admitted that the medical community doesn't know very much about what triggers this condition, and he did tell me about a Dr. Kaplan (sp?) in South Carolina who is doing research into this with special regard toward the autoimmune antibody triggers. And that is what he thinks is the trigger behind mine because everything came up normal and I can't even come close to narrowing down a trigger to any one person, place, thing, pressure, cold, heat, etc. I asked Dr. Villareal if he saw CU on a regular basis and he said that he sees about 1 or 2 cases per day, about 20%. Then he explained that about 20% of the population has some sort of urticaria at one point in their lives but most are not chronic. It was very refreshing to find a doctor with this attitude. , I truly hope that you are lucky enough to find a doctor of this caliber for Alena. Our prayers are with you. Guest guest
Thank You Robin, my head hurts to even think of where to go next. I am very interested in what Dr. Kaplan is doing. I think I will dig deeper into that. Thank You again~ Re: PIG of a doctor I went in for my first follow-up with the allergist. Guest guest
Hey Robin, Tests: Candida Profile IgG Candida Profile IgA Candida Profile IgM Free T4 TSH Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Anti-Thyroglobulin Antibodies Anti-Microsomal Antibodies Basal Body Temperature Blood Type Cholesterol Triglycerides HDL Cholesterol LDL Cholesterol Coronary Heart Disease Risk Hemoglobin Hematocrit Serum Cortison Free Cortisol Bone Density Mammogram Air-borne allergies Food allergies I have been told for 12 or so years that there is nothing wrong with my thyroid, even though every doctor said it seemed that would have been the problem. It is not a test only type of disease. So many things go into consideration regarding all the hormones we have. Women are usually more affected because we tend to lose our hormones quicker then men which can really cause a mess. I hope you continue on a getting well path...
