Guest guest
Hi Alison, Nice to have you in the group. I agree with Laurie that you should seek a second opinion! My daughter has tort/plagio and is now in a DOC band. She also always preferred one side and could wiggle her way to that position no matter how I tried to rig things up. My pediatrician told me it was mild, didn't really mention the torticollis at first. On my own I contacted a pediatric neurosurgeon and than called my pediatrician and asked politely for the prescription since I already had an appointment! We watched for about 2 months, without much improvement despite positionins. At 6 months of age we got a referral for the DOC band. (I still don't think my pediatrician is all that in favor of it, but I felt it needed to be done). Please also get in PT. The younger they are, the quicker and easier it is to correct. Go with your gut. Moms always know best!! Good luck! Laurie (mom of - 6 1/2 months- DOC band) - In Plagiocephaly , " momma6704 " <momma6704@y...> wrote: > Hello! My name is Alison. Guest guest
Hi Alison, Welcome to the group. I just want to second everything has already told you and to ask you where you're located. Are you near a Cranial Tech office, they make the DOCband. They offer free evaluations, you will get an honest opinion on whether or not your baby would benefit from a band. Don't worry they won't try and " sell " you their product. Can you post pics of your son? --- In Plagiocephaly , " momma6704 " <momma6704@y...> wrote: > Hello! My name is Alison. Guest guest
Hi Alison! I'm a first time mommy also, & brand new to this group too. My son liked to do the same thing, & I think it was because we used to co- sleep with him, so he would always turn toward me. He doesn't have torticollis. My pediatrician told me the exact same thing yours did, & now I wish I had been more insistent with him. Go with your instinct! This is your precious baby! --- In Plagiocephaly , " momma6704 " <momma6704@y...> wrote: > Hello! My name is Alison. I am a first time mommy! My son is > . He is 11 weeks.
