Guest guest
Amy, I think where Jaden's head shape is now, if you got him into an active band you'd see excellent results. He is still young enough to receive awesome correction from an active band. If he were my son I wouldn't be happy with the shape of his head the way it is now. I definitely see some correction, but he still has a ways to go. As long as you have a script, it's not up to the ortho whether or not you band Jaden with an active band. It's your call! --- In Plagiocephaly , " Amy in MN " <skisum88@h...> wrote: > Howdy everyone, > Jaden has an appt w/ Hanger on the 13th, and I really feel that he > has much correction left, his ears are almost lined up (but not > quite yet) and he has lots of facial asymmetry. Guest guest
Whoa. Band him. There, you wanted honesty. I could have sugar coated it, but I have to get to bed. You can do better. The Craniocap has certainly helped, but an active band will pop him right into the normal range, in my opinion. Good for you for being so on top of things. Your current ped is a bit of a nincompoop. He and my ped must meet for drinks before work. As for your family, they don't have your finely tuned mommy instincts. They may never understand, but you're the mommy. I have talked to a few friends who say they couldn't see my son's asymmetry. I can show them pictures of horrifically deformed babies, and they can see it, but to them my son is so beautiful that they just can't see a single flaw. I like that about them. They have also been very supportive of my decision to band. Hopefully your family will, too, even if they think you're crazy. Keep us informed. Your Jaden is reeeeally cute, by the way! Guest guest
Hey Amy Jaden is absolutely gorgeous. I would def go for the active band. I think his correction in the CranioCap is great, and if there was no other choice I think I " could " make my peace with his head, BUT knowing that you have another option that could give him more correction would be enough for me. I did see the flatness you are talking about, and the facial asymetry. Good luck with that letter of med nec. By the way. We do have an awesome ped here, and he has done every test for Willow that I have ever asked him to. Guest guest
You certainly cannot make a wrong decision either way. If you had just shown me " Jaden side view 11 weeks craniocap " I would say not to have him banded again because in my opinion he looks extroadinarily good. Obviously you and your dh have the best real-life views and will make the best deicision for you all. That's great that you have another option so close to home. Guest guest
Amy, Everyone else has said what I was going to say, but I just wanted to post to say that the side view looks great, but the top view of Jaden's headshape does expose some shape concerns. If it were me, I would make a go of an active band, since you have nothing to lose, and he's still young enough to get great results from an active band! I'm very interested in how the Hanger appt. goes on the 13th, and how the ortho assesses Jaden's remaining opportunity for correction. Plus, it would be helpful to the group to hear a first- hand experience about the Hanger option in your area to pass along to future members.
