has had the Siemen Music aids since Feb.99

and I've been wondering if they are still " good "

enough for him if that makes any sense. Just curious

as to what changes you all are making and why?? Thanks

As of today 94 firefighters have died in the line of duty since Jan.1,2000. May

they watch over those of us who continue to fight the dragon, and may they be

waiting at the gates for those brothers and sisters that are also called home.

Hi . This is always the question as new technology comes out. Yes,

there are newer aids with newer technology. But are Tommy's aids meeting

his needs now? If not, is it the aids, or something else, that aren't

meeting his needs?

At this rate, we could get new aids every year, because of newer and better

technology. That can get awfully expensive. :-) It's kind of like a

car...if it's getting you from place to place, then you decide if you need

a newer model with automatic transmission and power steering, if your older

model is still serving you well. My son is using analog programmable

directional aids (Phonak SonoForte AudioZooms). Yes, there's newer

technology out there. But right now, these aids are meeting his needs well.

If at some point he develops a speech problem or listening problem

attributed to something that his hearing aids can't do, we'll look for new

ones, based on what those problems are, and what the new aids can or can't

do to solve it. Of course, YMMV.

Hi Kerri,

I've been debating new aids because we have been

having so many problems with his current ones(the

Siemens Music aids) and they seem to be under repair

more often than in his ears lately. We're a military

family so it takes a bit longer to get from getting

the docs approval for repair, to our audi who has to

confirm than to the repair, etc. Tricare will pay for

any new aids we get so luckily price isnt an option

for us at this point. I just am curious to know if we

can get something similar either from Siemens or

another company that will actually work.I can barely

figure out the terms that go with his

deafness--keeping up with technology is way out of my

league :-)
