Guest guest
Judith, The only medicine that I tried specifically for vasculitis was Dapsone (often used for Leprosy patients). Of course, it didn't work for me and now I know why! I DON'T have vasculitis afterall! Right now I am taking Zantac and Singulair which provide little relief. I am allergic to all H1 antihistamines. In my research I have learned of some medications used for vasculitis patients. The information in parentheses is what the medication is commonly used for. I am not sure how they work because I have never tried them. But it may be worth asking your doctor about. Some of the medications are pretty harsh, and the effects may be worse than the actual disease. Dapsone (leprosy) Methotrexate (cancer) Colchicine (gout) Indomethacin (arthritis and pain) Hydroxychloroquine (malaria, liver, arthritis, lupus) *Azathioprine (organ rejection, arthritis) *Cyclophosphamide (cancer) *w/ Prednisone - kills cells that cause blood vessel inflammation Warfarin (anticoagulant) Tranexamic acid (blood stuff) Good luck with the vasculitis! I now know I don't have it, but let me know if I can help in any way. One of my doctors said that having idiopathic urticaria and urticaria vasculitis present the same problems. In each case it is very difficult to find the cause. I think it is important to not stop searching for the cause for vasculitis.
