Guest guest
Hello Noam, I understand your fears completely. I think we were all there at first. I can pretty much guarantee that will adapt to it just fine and be the same happy, smiley baby that you know and love. I can also completely understand you second-guessing the helmet. I was the queen of skepticism! However, it is amazing and it really helps to ensure the proper reshaping of the head in such a short time (considering 's age). I can bet that you will not regret it. We will never know if our child's head would've rounded on it's own but it was a chance I didn't want to take. I'm sure you have seen some photos and I have some under " Colin F. " There is an " Older Plagio " group as well that I have visited and many members have said that they regret not doing anything. This certainly will not hurt in any way. TIt's harder on the parents but as soon as you see how well he's doing it is so much easier. Take care and please keep in touch with how everything's going. Guest guest
That is great that the band came in so early! Mr. Mottram seems to be very concerned with proper plagio treatment in the UK. I think that you'll be in excellent hands and if the fit is right then it shouldn't bother or change his temperment a bit! Guest guest
Noam, I understand your apprehension as well. However, I believe you are making the right decision. The band will help. There are definitely positive stories about heads reshaping all by themselves. However, there are also a lot of stories where the plagio didn't resolve and parents wish they had sought treatment (they waited too long and banding was no longer an option). My daughter just turned 6 months and will be getting her band on 9/13. She's the 3rd child as well, very easy going and I'm confident she'll stay that way. Keep us posted on 's adjustment to the band. Take Care, Dianna (Mom to , getting DOC band 9/13). ..Plagiocephaly , " ziggyhandler " <ziggyhandler@y...> wrote: > Our Orthotist ( Mottram) called us yesterday to tell us that > 's STARband has come in (only scanned last Wednesday). > > We are both anxious about the whole thing, especially my wife. Guest guest
HI there Personally, I think you are doing the right thing. My daughter is in a band with Dr Blecher at the moment and it has transformed the way she looks- I always thought her face was fairly unaffected, ( I knew it sloped a bit) but now it is being corrected, the difference is incredible- she looks like herself in the mirror now, as the asymmetry is corrected. I also saw a little boy recently who was about 6 or 7, we had a little chat as he was with his dad who was asking about the helmet. He clearly had uncorrected plagio, and whilst he was a charming and lovely child, he looked quirky to say the least. I'm sure it won't go on to ruin his life, but who can say how he would feel in the future. This way you don't have to leave it to chance. I'm sure, like everyone else says, that once you see the results your doubts will disappear. Hope it goes well-let us know Hannah (mum to Lucia, London, UK) Plagio, passive helmet, 4/7/04 > Our Orthotist ( Mottram) called us yesterday to tell us that > 's STARband has come in (only scanned last Wednesday). > > We are both anxious about the whole thing, especially my wife.
