This week I would LOVE to see your (or other's) excuses for everything from why you gain weight to why you can't drink water or exercise - share these excuses with us and WHAT can be done to make the changes needed to turn those excuses into GOAL reaching solutions!!!!

Excuse for 2004 - 2005 - one mean tiny pill....side effect - weight gain

Excuse for not drinking water.......... "not thirsty"; "forget to drink water"; "don't take the time to get a glass of water during the day".

Exercise..... I'm not too bad with the exercise, but I do look for excuses sometimes not to go to the recreation center or the fitness room at the hospital to walk whenever it's "too cold".....or "too hot". "I didn't have time" to go walking etc. etc.

Ok, Melody, you asked for it. I once told my TOPS group that I gained weight because a flying saucer landed on the roof of my house and it shook the tv so hard that it caused the vcr to fall off the tv and the candy dish slid off the vcr and all the candy went flying into my mouth! My dingy daughter in law, who, no, isn't a blonde, asked me when that happened. She was serious! Now the solution to this problem is......1) don't put the candy on top of the vcr, 2) don't put the vcr on top of the tv, 3) stay away from flying saucers! Will that work, Melody?

Solution: Exercise every day. Keep a food chart & count calories

Excuse for not drinking water.......... "not thirsty"; "forget to drink water"; "don't take the time to get a glass of water during the day".

Solution: Buy bottled water and/or add lemon flavoring to glass of water. Set out on cabinet in clear view sight. Drink water every 30 minutes or so......surely I can do this.

Exercise..... I'm not too bad with the exercise, but I do look for excuses sometimes not to go to the recreation center or the fitness room at the hospital to walk whenever it's "too cold".....or "too hot". "I didn't have time" to go walking etc. etc.

Solution: Add this to the top of my "to do" list every day. I cannot turn on computer or TV until I have done my exercise for the day.

Ok I think I may have a gain this week because even though I did a lot of walking and was VERY active I also had a huge appetite and I ate a huge meal when I did eat. Fortunately I only ate 1 huge meal a day and the rest was snacks that consisted mostly of beef jerky. and trail mixes.

So this week I am going to eat light and started already on turkey sandwhiches and using MODERATION on my meals.

I HATE WATER, BUT, if I eat hard candy such as peppermints, suckers, gobstoppers, and butterscotch it kills my desire for sodas and makes me want and CRAVE water. I guess I need to go out and buy me some gobstoppers or peppermints so I will drink my water more often.

I already started exercising also. I rode the bike (bicycle) 2 miles yesterday and rode a mile today so far. I have been busy cleaning and getting things in order to get the house in shape to show to sell. I got the music on (classic country station) and every once in awhile I will dance and clean to the music!

Gotta ask ~~~ WHAT are 'gobstoppers' ~~~am I the only one who doesn't know ????

Glad to hear you enjoyed Big Bend ~~ but I don't think I could have ridden that far on a bike ??!!!! I know it's beautiful on a bike --- 2 of my brothers have them -- but I prefer the comfort and safety of a vehicle!!!!!
