Guest guest
Hi Cristina: How is Nicky doing? How bout the band? Have you thought more about going to San Diego for a free eval? Debbie
Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I've thought about it some more and it seems every couple of days I change my mind. Nicky has a mild case of brachy and (as we found out at our last appt) slight plagio on his right side that going all the way and going through this all over again just seems too exhausting. Actually his brachy has gotten slightly better. The more I think about the service we received at Cranial Therapies the more angry and frustrated I get. On our first visit(and casting), the ortho was sure to point out all the irregularities on Nicky's head. He even said that his ears were off center and his face was asymetrical. He told me Nicky has a bit of tightness on left side and instructed me on exercises. He went through all this stuff so fast it seemed like he was reading lines from a script - it was like an informercial for the DOC band! I sat there trying to make sure I got everything that I didn't have time to ask questions and he didn't offer to answer any (unfortunately my husband couldn't make the appt). I left feeling guilty that my son was so "deformed" and certain that we had made a good choice. Two weeks and two days later we came back for the band and for measurements. I expected his measurements to be way off. Wrong! The man who took them surprised us by telling us that since Nick has flattening evenly across the back of his head (same thing Nick's ped said) , it made his facial symetry even better than normal! He was less than 1 mm off on all his measurements. When he measursed the top front to back and side to side, he said the numbers were just about equal. Which I understood wasn't too bad even though normally the front to back should be longer. When the ortho came in for the fitting, I asked about the and the symetry. He replied that the exercises were working and thats why he's had improvement. BS I thought - I wasn't doing the exercises consistantly. Everytime I go there I feel like I'm such a bother for asking questions about my own son's progress. At the last visit I was pretty close to tears just trying to CONVINCE them to examine my son's head. I can't say that the ortho's bad at what he does, but I do think he's more concerned about getting paid. Sorry to have made this longer than I should have, but to answer your question no, I don't think we'll get the eval in San Diego. If we did and they told me he needed a new helmet, I seriously doubt I'll be able to make every appointment in San Diego and we're SO done with CT in LA. We're going to our last appointment because they are doing measurements. Once that's done I'm going to tell them that we're stopping treatment and I want a refund for the appointments we won't be going to. Gosh, I don't mean to sound so bitter! I guess I'm just disillusioned with the entire thing. Cris Mommy to Vince 2 years & Nicky 6 months (banded 5/20) Debbie <dj2kirby@...> wrote: Hi Cristina:How is Nicky doing? How bout the band? Guest guest
Hi Cris I'm so sorry to hear how frustrated you are, mainly with your clinician. I'm sorry you didn't get better care and are ready to throw in the towel. Please keep us posted on whatever you do!!! I don't know what to say to you other than SORRY! Big hugs. Guest guest
Cris, I'm sorry that you have become so frustrated and discouraged. If you toss banding all together you should still give repo a try. Nicky is still so young, keep him off of his back as much as possible and that mixed with him sitting up soon, I bet he will round some in the back. Good luck, Natasha > Hi Cristina: > How is Nicky doing? How bout the band?
