Guest guest
> Any one who takes a lot of breaks shows lack of supervision. How come no one > is complaining about those who take a break while not leaving the room? > Kathy ******************************************************************** Well there is that problem too. We have 1/2 of a supervisor. That person is torn between 2 different stations about 100 miles apart. Spends part of the week at one part at the other. That supervisor job was taken away for.....reasons unknown to the rest of us. But it appears this way: we lost 3 supervision spots while our ultimate supervisors have had nearly 50 promotions. One of the rumored reasons was that we were supervisor heavy; that is too many operators to 1 supervisor. (at our station 9 to 1). The state Commission wants about 10 to 1 I've heard. But our ultimate supervisors ratio of workers to supervisor about 4 to 1. Hey makes sense to me. :-) Iowa State Patrol Communications, Cedar Rapids Werling NØXZY Anamosa, IA scott@... Guest guest
>They mean no harm or extra work to anyone. I know they MEAN no harm. But I think they cause harm, and from the comments I'm hearing here, I believe I'm right. In not all.. but many cases... They cause extra work for others. They cause discontent in the workplace, because of the extra time they take to smoke. >If they get more, than nobody had better complain if a non-smoker takes an extra break.< That's the point. Discontent from the smokers, discontent and resentment from the non-smokers. >Our job is stressful enough without creating stressors from within. If you have resentment from non-smokers, because smokers are taking extra breaks.... you have a stressor. The complaint here was that smokers were taking extra breaks to smoke. If they don't do that...... no problem.... Weintraut
