Yesterday, I was awarded a Lifesaving Award by my agency. Last month, while

finishing a graveyard shift on sheriff radios, I had turned my position over

and was wrapping up some paperwork when I answered a 911 call and the woman

told me her 36 year old husband wasn't breathing. Using our EMD protocols,

we performed CPR until the paramedics arrived. They discovered a faint

pulse and transported. The family had several more days together until,

unfortunately, the individual passed away.

Congratulations Walt...GREAT job. Perfect day to share this with us.

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.

I'm not exactly sure why I am choosing to share the following -- maybe

because I am grateful to many of you for sharing your experiences in an

inspiring way and maybe my experience will be of benefit to someone who

reads this in some way.

I just keep thinking what a gift we all have been given -- that of being in

position to really make a difference in someone's life. I feel truly

humbled. Along with others, I occasionally complain about the nuisance

calls, the jerks, the low-lifes, and so on; but, what a privilige to hear

someone in pain and anguish trust us with their loved one's life and then to

see it make a difference.

To all of you on this Thanksgiving -- thanks for being there and thanks for

making a difference. I'm proud to be one of you.

Walt
