Hi ,

I don't personally know about coverage of the DOCband with Oxford

Liberty. Have you already gotten to the point of procuring pre-

authorization, or a denial of some sort? Do you know what your

insurance policy specifically states as far as coverage for cranial

orthoses?

We have an Insurance Database in the Database section of the group

called " Who's Insurance Paid What. " I found 2 entries for an

insurance company called " Oxford " in NJ. I wonder if that is the

same or related to your insurance? Here are the two entries, if you

think they might be of help:

n Finnegan

Marlton NJ

Oxford Insurance

100% paid

0 appeals necessary, but would not cover CT only in house prothetic

company

not born with flat spot, but was in a instrictive intrauterine

environment, he was a large twin birth

yes, tort was present

Hanger band

ann and

NJ

Oxford Insurance

80% (our DME benefit) paid

0 appeals necessary

not born with flat spot

yes, tort was present

DOCband

I have heard that Cranial Tech gives people a packet to help with

insurance appeals. We also have lots of sample letters to appeal

various denials here at the group site in the files/insurance help

section. There is also some additional information that might be

useful in the links/insurance folder. CAPPSkids has a nicely

organized page on insurance help that includes a step by step

through the process, and appeal sample letters as well at:

http://www.cappskids.org/PlagioInsuranceHelp.htm

Would you let us know if you have any other questions or concerns

bout insurance? Hopefully you won't even have to go to the appeal

stage, but we've had many parents who dug in their heels and won

coverage.

Take care,

Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy)

Welcome to the group. I'm glad you found it! Good luck with Ethan;

everything should go really well. We don't have that ins. but with

the help of everything on this site and others we won our appeal! So

if you have any trouble, there is still hope...good luck and let us

know.
