Hello ,

Thanks for replying to my message, its nice to know there are people

out there!

My doctor prescribed me with antihistamines (I dont know the name),

with helped with the itching, although done nothing to prevent the

hives. I went back to the doctor and she refered me to a

dermatoligist. The dermatoligist said i had Urticaria, but did not

distinguish between cholinergic or any other type. They said there

was no medication they could prescribed and said i should undertake

an elimination diet, which was of no help. After this my GP said

there was nothing they could do and said i should simple avoid any

activity that i thought might bring out the hives. This is VERY

difficult, simply walking up and down the stairs at Uni could bring

me out, and as i am slightly over weight i would love to be able to

exercise. I use to do martial arts before this, and the thought of

being able to start again would make me delighted.

This was 3 years ago. Since then I have been told just to live with

it. Avoiding anysort of exercise, not going on holiday, generally

staying inavtive, and covering up whenever i went out to hide the

hives, although they were sometimes visable on my hands and back of

the neck.

I have recently moved, i use to live in Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow,

now i live in Sussex. I was only allerted to cholinergic urticaria

within the last week, by a chance reading in a health book. My

symptoms match those in the book to the letter and i am waiting for a

doctors appointment with a local doctor this week, one who i have not

seen yet, although i dread going as i fear they may not have

encounterd this problem before and simply tell me there is nothing

they can do. What should i say to them? Any advice would be of great

help.

Thanks V Much, im actually sitting here smiling, just knowing there

are people to talk to about this.
