Guest guest
my son is 40lbs. from day one we started at 500mg. 3x a day. I saw a MAJOR improvement on day 2. (I'm going to put videos on utube, b/c i think others need to see what is possible. Marcia, from this group had a conversation w/ my 5 1/2 year old son, yesterday, on the telephone. she could not believe her ears. our son is truly recovered). anyway. our DAN, too, wanted to use ampB. as the antifungal piece, but I took other parents advice (thank you, Cheryl!!) and made sure he only prescribed us an azole while on valtrex.you need high frequency, w/high dosage & an azole for this therapy to be truly successful. Otherwise, IMO, it's not worth doing. Also, we have found complimenting it w/an immune modulator has been amazing.HTH,Sent from my iPhone Hi everyone, I am usually an avid reader and poster on the site, but have been unable to check in of late. When I tried to catch up yesterday, I saw great posts on Valtrex dosage that left me worried. My son weighs 33lbs and has been on 250mg of Valtrex 3x per day for almost two weeks. He is using amphotericin as an antifungal - teaspoon 3 times per day. The Valtrex dosage is the same as what Stan used for his son years ago. I think my DAN! follows his guidance to a tee. Have people found that this dosage is too little lately? I saw a post saying that 500mg per day was too low and indicating that 1500 per day was okay. Am I risking virus mutation or no improvement by giving my son too little? Should I be seeing improvements at this point. I've been seeing little blips of improvement, but I've had unsustained improvements before so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks,
Guest guest
OMG! I was set on difluconazole and my DAN! (Dr. Neubrander) convinced me to use amphotericin by telling me that Stan K. was now recommending it AND by cautioning against killing the child to kill the virus (seriously, I don't remember the exact quote, but that was the intent)!! He really was just prescribing Valtrex to humor me since my son's tests didn't show high viruses. Interestingly, we're seeing small improvements already (again we've seen temporary improvements before, but they have gone away so I'm hesitant to get too excited yet - afraid to hope cause being let down hurts so much). How do you know how much is too much? My dan says 250mg 3x per day for a 35lb child. Others say more is okay. Could 500mg 3x per day be toxic to my little guy? Also, if I use the azole, do I need to test his liver function or something else periodically? I truly believe my little guy is a viral kid and I'm very scared of messing up his chances of recovery. Please advise. > > Hi everyone, > I am usually an avid reader and poster on the site, but have been unable to check in of late.
