Hi Georgia...I am the one who recently started taking Neurotin, I also

quit taking it as it was upsetting my stomach, major front forehead headache

and drowsiness. I won't live like that. I can tell you it is an anti-seizure

med. They worked me up to 900 mgs. I am going to talk to my doctor about

that patch Marnie mentioned for 24-7 medication, "Fentanyl Transdermal

System" as that is how my pain runs. What Neurotin did for me was just

make things worse sorry to say. Back to 1000 mg of motrin for now when

I need it for at least a bit of relief.

I haven't been here for a bit, but I do want to welcome the new Crewbies,

very fun and informative group, with lots of compassion.

Those facing surgeries right now, your Angels are with you....those

who have given us fabulous news of their surgeries or tests....HOORAY!!

CELEBRATE..CELEBRATE!!!! DANCE TO THE MUSIC!!!!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all those

I missed! Hope you day was a fun one!

There

has been a little bit of talk lately about different drugs and their pain-killing

properties, and also talk about pain! When I was at the doctor's this morning

she mentioned a drug called Neurotin or Neurontin. Definitely not

Neurofen! Now do-do here didn't write down the name because she NEVER

forgets anything. However I do recall some talk about this drug just

lately. Can anyone give me a quick run down on it?Georgia

who doesn't dare even sniff the brandy bottle with all the drugs inside

her!

hi,

I am taking Neuatin(I think that is the spelling) anyway it does cause

some hair loss and dryness of the mouth. I take this for my seizure

control.

Hi Carol,

I did the Neurotin thing for a few monthes for seizures and did have some

side effects. The med I am currently on is Depakote and it is also used to

treat migraines (along with manic deppressant and bi-polar disorders).

Maybe it would be worth a try. I feel bad for those of you experiencing the

bad headaches. I had them before the last surgery and I give thanks

everyday that I'm pretty much pain free.

Blessings,

Thanks .....I am already on Paxil and Lithium, so I don't know if they

would put me on Depakote. I will print this out though and ask my doctor about

it along with all the other good questions.
