.. In my situation Blue Shield Pays first, then Medicare picks up whatever is left.

Same with me, Pete. I think that the 2 of them (the Blue Cross and the Medicare) pay for almost the total bill after the "good faith" deductions are worked out. I have paid very little in the last few years. Although, there are some medical things that are not covered (like my eye medicines - my Celluvisc eye drops and my Refresh PM eye ointment :o()

My experience with Medicare has actually been pretty good in that they tend to

pay for whatever you need. It's just how much they pay that can be the question

<g> Depending on your situation, Medicare may NOT be the primary actually. In

my situation Blue Shield Pays first, then Medicare picks up whatever is left.

Wellwhat decides if Medicare is the primary? I am pretty sure the info I

received with it said it would be the primary; if you wanted to go out of

State for surgery, would they cover it? Marie

I am really interested as to why Medicare would be my primary and not yours; I am on Retirement Disability from the State. When you retire with disability you get paid Blue Cross/Blue Shield/ but after two years on disability, Medicare kicks in, and you have to take Part B and pay $50 a month. I am just concerned that if I have to go back to HEI, this new insurance will cover it/let me. Marie

HI MARIE,

MEDICARE IS MY PRIMARY THEN BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD THAT'S THE WAY IT WORKS WHEN YOU GO ON MEDICARE.

NEVER ANY PROBLEMS WITH HEI SINCE ON MEDICARE. GAIL I KNOW IS ON MEDICARE TOO AND NO PROBLEMS.

Oh , that is good to hear; since Medicare let you go to HEI! That is what I was worried about! I don't know if I have BC/BS accordingto the personnel lady, once Medicare kicks in, I lose BD/BS, but my PEBTF (Pa Employees Benefit Trust Fund)Major Medical kicks in.) Marie

Anne here....My hubby, Jim, has recently experience this. We still get

confused but, check w/ your drs. which of them accepts Medicare? Actually,

Medicare has its own area of BC/BS (this is the way I understand it; please

don't quote me :0/ ). It was called (still is) " Health Options " ..... and

supposedly will be changing in May 1st.

That's all I know for now.

Anne here.... Jim B. has BC/BS the medicare HMO is BlueCare. Jim has a

co-pay $10 each Drs. visit. It will be interesting to see the results of

insurance compenssation when his current tx's for skin cancer are completed.

:-/

In Florida ....thinking everytime I know what's going on.... it changes.

That's life. Keeps us on our toes :)

Anne
