Guest guest
Hello Elaine ..... I'm so glad you filled us in on what is happening to you. Sorry to hear that you fell but I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself. Thank God you landed on your bed. I've also had my legs just give out from under me. I seem to walk close to walls or items that I can grab onto if I start to fall. As for the testing needed from your rheumy.... Once your prednisone gets low enough he should test you again for any rheumatic disease. I'm not sure how low you have to be on the Prednisone to run the tests. Can you take an steroid inhaler? I am very concerned about your diabetes. Your PCP should be helping you out. I'm sure the Prednisone is not helping you at all since prednisone can cause diabetes. Isn't there a doctor who specializes in diabetes? If so, that's where you should go to. Your sleep pattern is much like mine at the present. Just when I think I can do something, I'll sit down and I'm out like a light. I'm also VERY heat and sun sensitive. It just robs me of my energy so fast and makes me sick to my stomach. Gosh Elaine, I also did the oxygen level thingy on my finger and walking the halls. It drops from 97% to around 90%. Still good but I'm panting like a dog. Like you, I can only walk a little bit then I need to sit down or rest on something. I prefer to sit. If I sat on a curb I wouldn't be able to get up. They have to rule out if your lack of energy is oxygen related or not. I'm glad you mentioned the shoes. My feet have always been a big problem. I need the shoes to be soft, flexible, lightweight and have excellent support. Most shoes don't have all of these so I keep searching. Sandals and slip on's are out. Sneakers are the best for me but I still would like a little more softness and support. I haven't tried the Nike Air shoes but will try to hunt them down and give them a try. If my feet hurt, everything in my body hurts.... Well, get some sleep and let us know what your Rheumy says and does tomorrow. I do hope he's a good and will run all the tests needed. Guest guest
Vicki, The more I read these posts, the more amazed I become. I fall, too, and then can't get up unless there's a chair nearby to put my elbows on. And shoes are a BIG concern--one that no one seems to understand--because sneakers are the only shoes I feel safe in. And they have to be very very light or my feet start scuffling along. I can wear some other flat shoes but not for long. It's such a help to me to read that others have the very same concerns and problems I have! One other thing... do any of you have difficulty in crowded places? It wears me out emotionally and physically to try to maneuver between chairs, tables, people, etc. I'm so afraid I'm going to fall into someone. Crowded restaurants are the worst! I avoid them. When I'm finally out of the crowded situation, I'm so exhausted from just trying so desperately to keep myself upright and walking carefully, that I just crumple up and can't do another thing the rest of the day or night. Sorry, but I just felt so good hearing that others share these ridiculous problems and concerns. Annette Elaine's Medical Update Hello Elaine .....
