Guest guest
Howdy , Good for your little one adjusting so well so quickly. My Jaden did also, and I let him wear it more during the break~in period since he also did just fine. As for the band slipping over the eyes, the same thing is happening w/ Jaden's cap and I am very upset about this. He gets puffy eyes from the friction of it being loose, despite the fact I lube it up underneath his band. However, I am told he is still young enough to grow more into it, which is probably true. He is 6 months and your Sydney is 9 months, and I'm betting they will both go thru growth spurts to kinda " fill in " the gaps and maybe this whole eye issue won't be something we will be dealing w/ anymore in a month or so. I'd definately address it w/ your OT, which I am going to do myself. As for the sweating, I just wrote in a post to someone else about using a fan in the room, circulating the air and providing a " white noise " background for sleeping. You can always do a onesie and then have her wear a lightweight cotton sleep sack on top of that. BabyCenter.com and JCPenney both have the SleepSacks, but get the cotton one, not the fleece. Babies always need one more layer than what we are wearing, so keep that in mind. And with the fan, if you go that route, it'll provide a nice circulation and she'll want that extra layer, despite the sweating, IMHO. ~Amy, mommy to Jaden MN, plagio/tort, started CranioCap 4/23/04 > Hello all - Sydney received her PPO band yesterday and all went > well - we were given a 4 day schedule by which we should increase > her wearing of the band until she is in it full-time by Fri. Guest guest
Hello Wonderful to hear Sydney is tolerating the band more than she is scheduled for. I think it's a good idea to just leave her if she is ok with it. We were told just to strip a layer of clothing. Maybe for the first few nights you could put her in a onsie and some long light pants. Then for the first few nights just peak in and feel her face / hands / feet if open. That is how we did it. I just went for the feel. If Willow felt cold I dressed her and vise versa. Also the band slipping the first 1 or 2wks is totally normal (we were told as well) and after about a wk or so Willow had taken up the space. She was younger than Sydney so it might take a few more days for her. Good luck and keep us posted. Guest guest
Hello , I was so glad to see this post because my son is 8 months and brachy, he's getting casted today. I think it would be interesting to compare notes, most babies here are plagio and I haven't seen a lot of brachy. We're getting him the DOC band. I look forward to keeping up with your daughter's progress as we go through treatment as well. Good luck! :-) Mia Seifert - Glendale, AZ - DOC Band (soon) > > Hello all - Sydney received her PPO band yesterday and all went > > well - we were given a 4 day schedule by which we should increase > > her wearing of the band until she is in it full-time by Fri. Guest guest
Connor's PPO helmet is somewhat loose too, but Connor doesn't have brachy, so I'm not sure if they fit them any differently. As for the sweating, I have been dressing Connor in cooler clothing at night, such as a long sleeved onesie and socks, or even a short-sleeved onesie. Sometimes his legs feel cool when I dress him like that, but he doesn't seem to mind it. I tried putting a light blanket over his legs but he usually kicks it off. Dressed like that, he doesn't sweat much at night. Also, it takes a little while for them to adjust to the helmet. Guest guest
Hi , Thats great she is tolerating it well. As far as the looseness goes, the band is most loose at first. It should basically be making contact on her bulging areas, which would be the pressure points if this is an active band. Hannah had the plagio shape and her band literally teetered between these points at first. It shouldn't be so loose that it goes over her eyes though. Do you have a picture you could post? With the sleeping, I used to dress Hannah in just a onesie last summer. If she really is sweating alot I'd definitely dress her in less than a sleeper. Let us know how it goes! , mom to Hannah, DOCband #3 3/30 Cape Cod, Ma > Hello all - Sydney received her PPO band yesterday and all went > well - we were given a 4 day schedule by which we should increase > her wearing of the band until she is in it full-time by Fri.
