Guest guest
Hi, I had my daughter scanned, and she smiled and didn't even care. They then had a 3D view of it on their computer. All they did was put a cloth over her hair and lay her in it for about 20 seconds. Painless, quick and untraumatic. I have no experience with the casting though. adorable 's mother --- In Plagiocephaly , " jenll99 " <jennifer.luce@e...> wrote: > Hi, I am taking my 4 month old son to be fitted for a band and have > the option for him to have a Plaster Cast or to be Scanned by a > Laser. Guest guest
I was unaware they had a laser available. Is this with Cranial Technologies? My 5 month old son had the plaster cast made. It was fine for the first maybe 8 minutes, but the last maybe 5 he was uncomfortable since his head felt so heavy with the plaster. Overall it was fine. But if you have the option of that or being scanned by laser, hey go with the laser one. Good luck.\ Marcy New Jersey Mom to DOC band baby -5 months old --- In Plagiocephaly , " jenll99 " <jennifer.luce@e...> wrote: > Hi, I am taking my 4 month old son to be fitted for a band and have > the option for him to have a Plaster Cast or to be Scanned by a > Laser. Guest guest
Hi, Welcome! If I had the option I would have had my daughter scanned! From what I've read it is quick and easy. My 6 month old was recently casted. She actually did pretty good, only a few tears (more traumatic for mom!), but it definitely takes longer. Also, I had to help support her head because the cast was just too heavy. For us, the clean up was the worst as we had " lukewarm " water at best. Anyway, as long as both methods work equally well, I would opt for quick and easy!! Just my opinion. Good luck! Guest guest
Hello Jen My daughter was casted for her helmet, and was fine with it. She screamed at the end b/c she was mad, but it does not hurt the baby in any way. I would see what your ortho does most. I would probably select the one in which he/she has most experience doing. It's all about the experience, not about the procedure. Good luck, and let us know what you decide on.
