Guest guest
Hi all, I have been a member for a few years, as I have a son with PDD. I read all the time but dont post much. This post is actually for a dear friend of mine whose daughter has severe anxiety. As long as their day remains the same then everything is fine, but if she so much as changes lanes to pass a stalled car, her daughter totally freaks out. This escalated to by the fact they have done many blood draws for testing, so most likely she thinks that she is going to the lab when you divert from the typical paths of therapy school etc. She is 4 years old and are on the diet and are doing biomed with a DAN, but the things they have tried so far have not made a dent in the anxiety. She has minimal communication skills and we all feel like the anxiety is elevated do to the lack of ability to effectively communicate. They have tried Pandas tx, antifungal, antibacterial, depokote, 5HTP, GABA,....so any ideas would be appreciated. Her Mom is at wits end and mostly just feels so bad for her daughter and just wants to help her not to be so much turmoil and ultimately heal. Thanks!! Guest guest
Thanks for posting that . I wanted to suggest L-Theanine but didn't have a dosage. I give my kids 1/2 a pill, I think it's 100 mg... but I also combine with GABA... I will up that dosage ;-) --- ToniTo: mb12 valtrex Sent: Tue, August 24, 2010 9:16:34 PMSubject: Re: Need Help with SEVERE Anxiety!! What about L-Theanine. It's an amino acid. I use it on my 4 year old boy. He has to use alot of it, but it helps for sure. GABA didn't do anything from him. L-Theanine is better absorbed for some people than GABA. We use 900mg a day per DAN doc. > > Hi all, > > I have been a member for a few years, as I have a son with PDD. I read all the time but dont post much. Guest guest
All of the comments / questions on anxiety are hitting home for me and in case this is helpful to anyone else... Our oldest has incredible anxiety (won't take a walk because it could possibly have lightening). Dr. Megson said this is because of her leaky gut/ allergies. If you have allergies (she has a LOT of allergies) your body releases histamines and then your adrenals release cortisol in response. The high levels of cortisol basically keep a kid walking a tightrope of fight/flight at all times which looks like extreme anxiety to us parents. I think oxalates also contribute to some of the anxiety in some way. - Kati

Guest guest
We started at 100mg three times a day. Then up to 200mg three times a day after a week or two. Then 300mg three times a day after another couple of weeks. Like I said it's an amino acid. Our DAN! recommended such an increase. He also said though when you increase if you don't see any improvement after one week, then you can go back down. We still have some anxiety issues, but it's dramatically decreased. > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > I have been a member for a few years, as I have a son with PDD. Guest guest
try mixing it with something fatty like nut butter or frosting. Fat coats the mouth and so helps disguise the taste of nasty stuff. Guest guest
L-Theanine (derived from Green Tea Extract) is scientifically proven to reduce anxiety without drowsiness and is not addicting. It is also a good antioxidant. I recommended it to a friend who was having panic attacks and it stopped them immediately, Adults can take 2 capsules at a time and can take up to 6 daily as needed. For more information, go to http://www.nbnus.net/shopexd.asp?id=138 I hope this helps. Guest guest
My youngest son always reacts badly to theanine. Makes him wild. I never knew why so I just stopped trying it with him. But a while ago I read that theanine increases dopamine, and I think he already may be a high dopamine kid. But I think most kids do well with this supp, just not my little party animal! For us, keeping his diet super strict keeps down anxiety. Too much sugar (and I mean just more than a smidge) brings on anxiety, as well as the usual culprits of corn and red foods. Guest guest
no, but I remember eating the bubbles in the bath and because ivory soap was the cheapest around, that's what my mom bought for us. Guest guest
I have been using L-theanine (I mentioned in another post) and was only using it sporadically and at 100 mg.Then I started using it at night, thinking it would help chill them out. I had no idea if it was working or what. I am a good example of someone who adds too much at once and does not know what is doing what.I just started giving the L-theanine in the am... The last two days, my daughter has gotten gold stars for her behavior, but she has had fits the first three days of school (thurs fri and mon). Now I know that is kinda premature to be celebrating... I also gave some to my son this morning (200 mg)... he had a great day as well... When I got to school to pick him up, he was playing with other kids (he is somewhat social, but he is usually found building stuff, not with others.) He was laughing and smiling. When he saw me, his smile went away, thoroughly disgusted to see me LOL This kid usually runs to me saying mama mama and hugging on me. We got to the van and he was in a good mood, not tired and cranky. Seriously, I could not believe this was my child. His crankiness did not return till this evening, but still no where near what I deal with usually.I guess I will keep using it and see if this continues... and use it with the GABA... it seems l-theanine increases GABA; a quick search on google said it can last 8 hours - the GABA benefits for us usually wear off in 4-5 hours (which makes it difficult with the pre-k) Thanks again ... I had no clue on the dosing nor the significant benefits. --- ToniTo: mb12 valtrex Sent: Wed, August 25, 2010 12:21:04 PMSubject: Re: Need Help with SEVERE Anxiety!! Mercury is a known serotonin disrupter and for some kids naturals simply aren't enough. Guest guest
Tami,My son had very high anxiety and, thorough a process of elimination, we found that it was caused by a difficulty with dairy which caused inflammation. The dairy problem responded to digestive enzymes. We then treated the inflammation with HBOT and Repair Gold enzymes (targets inflammation) and the depression/anxiety is not such a big deal any more. Now we are on to working with other issues; he has a sense of humor now and can enjoy life which was previously impossible.sallyTo: mb12 valtrex Sent: Wed, August 25, 2010 11:21:04 AMSubject: Re: Need Help with SEVERE Anxiety!!
