Oh yeah. I dont think my mother bought herself presents, but she always

bought me what SHE wanted me to have. Even if I specifically said I didn't

want something, she made it a point to insist I have it. She knows I do not

like cococut cake so she made it a point to make that for me on my birthday.

Then she got mad and called me an ungrateful brat because I wouldn't eat it.

Ahhhh, the woes of having a borderline mother.

I may have the best birthday story of all ... My birthday is the same day

as my Nada's. She loves to tell the story of how she cleaned bookshelves all

day to make me come a little early so it would be on HER birthday.

My birthday has been about her since the day I was born. She wouldn't even

let me have my own birthday!

ALL HAIL NADA!! Yes, I'm glad that she squeezed me out 35 years ago, but

it pretty much went downhill from there. Still, as she says " this is a

special special day " . Hee hee.

healing I've experienced this year. Onward and upward!

yup, same thing here..nada would buy a gift for me that SHE wanted me to

have...usually it was tacky, cheap stuff and if it was clothes, it would be

old lady style with Hawaii print or something bold and mis matching in

color
