Guest guest
wrote--- Now I get to be clueless :-) What are music aids? ------- What a good question! Music is one type of hearing aids made by the Siemans company. Siemans also makes other " families " of hearing aids - Prisma is one, not sure all the others. Tommy's particular hearing aid is programmable - he's had it for more than three years. We're shopping hearing aids, not because we're trying to keep up with technology (heavens, it's like computers - the second you buy a new one, it's outdated!) but we're hoping for a bit more gain for Tommy in higher frequencies. We're planning on trialing both the Phonak Claro and the Siemans Prisma right now - but are keeping all options open. One thing I like about Siemans is that they have a two year warranty on their hearing aids (at least they did on the Music) and we were able to pay for a third year of insurance which included damage and loss. After the third year, however, you're on your own so we'll probalby go with Esco or Midwest to insure his aids. It will be an interesting year - I'm excited about Tom getting new aids and potentially a new FM. Barbara

My son also has these hearing aids. He's only had them since last August but they seem to work well for him (he's got a steady mild-moderate loss pretty much across the board but it does dip down just a hair in the higher frequencies). >One thing I like about Siemans is that they have a two >year warranty on their hearing aids (at least they did >on the Music) and we were able to pay for a >third year of insurance which included damage and >loss. Have you looked into that? It actually cost a little less than the companies we looked at that just insure hearing aids.
