I want to thank everyone here for the information I was able to

gather before our appointment with Dr. Madsen and in understanding

the banding process before seeing him. It was also helpful to hear

from those who had seen him and the been to the NOPCO clinic. We

went there and spoke with the director.

Colin's head is 4mm off the normal variation with deformational

plagiocephaly. It put him on the lower end of moderate, but more

than mild. He has some facial asymmetry that the Dr. appreciated and

frankly I was hopeful he might say it looked like it would resolve

without banding. Quite the opposite. I asked him directly what he

recommended and he was more towards doin it, but mindful that it *is*

cosmetic and our choice. I found him quite helpful, but was very

prepared.

I need to figure out where to get the band/helmet now. I am going to

call the Woburn Hnager location and did talk to them at NOPCO. I

think I want an active band. They did say they make 6-8 helmets each

week at Children's NOPCO clinic. That is alot. Would take 2-3 weeks

after scanning.

I will keep you posted. Thanks for all the help! Mish

Hi Mish:

Sounds like you had a good appt and you were armed with info ahead of

time, that's always helpful to be prepared.

Good luck with your decision on where to go! It's nice you have

diff. options available, although, sometimes it can be sooo

confusing! Let us know.

Mish,

It is rough, huh? You want the doctors to acknowledge what you are

seeing but you also want them to tell you that your child will be ok

without treatment. It is so hard to be a parent! Good luck with

your decision.
