Guest guest
Yes, I inquired about the possibility of these fast-growing fibroids actually being cancer, but was told by not one, but several gyns that I really " didn't fit the profile. " When pressed, one rushed doctor (my second pre-surgical opinion) claimed the only way to know for sure would be to remove my uterus, and find out I had cancer " after the fact. " Is there a uterine sarcoma test--I mean, short of surgical intervention?

I think they just do an endometrial biopsy and if they find something then they determine what kind of cancer cells they are looking at. The thing is, what if there is a uterine sarcoma but it is not advanced enough to have gotten cancer cells to other parts of the uterus yet? I'm seeing my gyn on Tuesday because the radiologist I saw last Monday thought this growth spurt had come on too quickly. That doesn't really mean anything except that it should be investigated. I'll keep you posted. " Grazie: :-) Cheryl

Guest guest
I eventually had a UAE. Since none of the fibroids grew, I assume the gynos were correct in their belief that I DID NOT have cancer.
Guest guest
Yes, I just remembered--prior to UAE I did have an endometrial biopsy, which revealed nothing ominous. I'm now inclined to think that the large majority of us having rapid growth fibroids really need not worry about cancer. I'm betting that is the case with you. (How old are you?) Pre or peri or menopausal--remember you're benign -- until proven otherwise! Of course while it's reassuring to know we don't have cancer, it doesn't mean we still can't have bothersome symptoms and real complaints! Good Luck to you! Pre or peri or menopausal-- I'm 55. I'm still menstruating. I don't know if I'm pre- or peri-menopausal. I just had my first appointment with a naturopath and she's going to try to find out. She asked me to start by taking my basal body temperature to see if i'm ovulating. The reason I had the ultrasound last Monday was to confirm that I did not have problems with my endometrial lining. My gyn had tried to do a biopsy but my cervix is stenosed. Rather than do the outpatient procedure, we opted for the ultrasound. The lining looked o.k. but the fast growth needs to be checked. So, she'll probably suggest the biopsy again. I might get a second opinion because I really don't feel comfortable enough with her to go into her operating room. I've never heard of that. Was it done before or during the surgery? Oops. Probably before. Because if it had come back positive you might have wanted an oncologist surgeon. Thanks. I didn't read your message clearly. It's obvious that you did indeed have the biopsy done before the surgery. Sorry. Cheryl
Guest guest
I had a very fast growing fibroid. I had my myo done and also a fine needle biopsy done and it showed no cancer. I know the time that I had to wait for the results it was a big worry period for me for nothing.
