Guest guest
Hi Laurie. My daughter McKenna has obvious ear misalignment. If you look from a bird's eye view it is way off. She doesn't get her helmet until 4pm today, but I do know her therapist said the helmet would correct the ears. Also, one of her ears is pulling forward/sticking out more than the other. The therapist said this was do to the pulling and would correct itself with the helmet. Sorry I can't really say how well that will happen since she isn't getting her STARband until today. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, How exciting to be getting his helmet soon! He's very cute and you guys did a great job with the pictures. Ear assymetry can be fixed with a helmet, though it is often (along with facial assym) the last thing to fix itself. If you look in the Before and After/DOCbands/Hannah B album you can see what great ear improvement my daughter had. Let us know when his helmet is fitted! , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad 7/29 Cape Cod, Ma > Hello all! > Sorry I've not been keeping up lately. Tommy hardly naps > anymore. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, Our son had a more severe cupped ear and we saw a plastic surgeon who recommended that we use surgical tape to tape it back. Believe it or not, it seems to be working. His ear is not perfect but is a lot better than it was. According to the doctor, the ear is still made up of soft cartillage and can be reshaped up to six months of age. So, you might want to talk to your doctor about surgical tape for the ear bend. I think the band should address the assymetry. I've attached the link to the site where we purchase our surgical tape. It is a UK site but has a good explanation of how it works. www.earbuddies.co.uk Good luck. Sheila (mom to Max, 6 mos, STARbanded 3 Aug 04) > > Hello all! > > Sorry I've not been keeping up lately.
