Guest guest
Debbie O: I suspect for the average person that they should not take Zyrtec more than once a day but we are not the average. My DR. prescribed 10mg twice a day right off the bat. I'm sending along some medical support to back the higher doses of Zyrtec. Guest guest
My daughter takes zyrtec twice a day however she takes Cimetidine with it. However she is only a toddler~ Zyrtec <<Zurtec is a great help for many with urticaria, and many take 10mg. twice a day, and I even more>> I talked to my doc yesterday about going 2x a day on the zyrtec and he said No. He said all his drug literature on Zyrtec does not support going 2x a day. I then refilled my prescrip and asked the pharmacist about it and he agree with the doc that you shouldn't take more than the 10 mg a day. Darn. I had hoped to go to 2x a day and hope that it would have helped my situation. Guest guest
First of all I would like to thank you sll for the support and reactions to my previous email. I have been prescribed Zyrtc 10 mg one tabled a day for 60 days. The doc said that if it does not work I can double the dose. Then see what happens. We are doing experiments. Sounds like I am a laboratory mouse, eh!? :-) There's nothing to lose now. So I am willing to collaborate in these tests.
Guest guest
Good Morning everybody! As to the dosage for most ofthe antihistimeines we use to help our hives, I once read a journal article in which it was stated that an unusually large dose is usually needed to help the hives control. Of course this is up to you and the doc. but I asked mine to double my Allegra from 1 X 180 per day to two per day. This was also based on something I had read. I think it might be helping. Also, for those that have tried everything, I also take (get ready!) Doxepine 3 X 10 mg per day and 1 X 25 at Bedtime, the two allegra mentioned, Dapsone 2 X 25 mg per day, Paxil 1 X 10 mg per day; and a shot of long and short acting medrol about every 6 weeks. I am on oral med right now for a short time because I had the flu and got real bad. So....do I believe that this all helps? Collectively Yes. WhenI am having periods of no hives I start to decrease some on these meds, but all together I do believe they help. Now, do I want to take all ofthis for the rest of my life. Certainly not! So, that is why I am pursuing the Yeast/Candida thing with the great pharmacist I found---I see her next wed so I will be reporting to you all--all of the details! Hang in there! I did want to add that in several of your E-mails I keep hearing a comon thread "upset stomach". "acid-reflux" "use of anti-biotics" and the joint pain stuff---alll of which I will be bringing up with her. So, more next week! Have agreat W-E and if you are hivy curl up with a goodbook or movie nd try to take your mind off of your troubles! in CT

Guest guest
Debbie O, When the doctor prescribed Zyrtec to my daughter last year (who at the time was only 10 years old and weighed 65lbs) she started her out on 20mg. She had been taking Atarax which had been working just fine but was bothersome having to take it four times a day. Anyway she told me to keep her on the 10mg twice a day to start with but to occasionally to see how she reacted to just 10mg a day. We tried just 10mg a number of times but it didn't work nearly as well. 20mg worked great but I was concerned of her taking twice the normal dose at her age and weight. I called and talked to the doctor about this and she told me that 20mg would not hurt her and the bottom line was to give her relief.
