What questions should be asked at Nurologist appt?

Hello to all,

As you all heard me say before I have an appt for to see the

Nurologist on 9/9/04. Only three weeks left to go till the day. I'm

starting to get that panic feeling in my tummy....(ugh!). Ok so the

main reason we are going is to...1)check for lack of normal

physiology. 2)find out what is causing the lazy eye. 3)why she has

developmental delay. 4)if she realy does have Optic Nerve Hypoplacia.

We also have an Optomatrist appt for the day before, but I think I

am going to reschedule since that doctor mentioned patch therapy for

the eye. After all what if the nurologist finds that that wont help.

So I'm going to reschedule for that.

I want to bring up the brachy shape that 's head has taken on.

has any one gotten a referal from just a nurologist? What kind of

questions should I ask? I was wondering if I could have him write

the referal. If not I was going to make an appointment to see

's Ped to discuss the findings of the nuro visit and also about

geting her Referal and Rx to CT.

Since I had gone to CT without 's Ped knowing about it, that

seems to be when she changed her mind, I guess she figured we realy

were serious about it and concerned with the shape. They did call

her Ped from CT. Turns out that she had referd a kiddo back in 2000.

So if she did it once before why not again. Any way she said she

would give us the referal. She wanted to make sure there isn't

anything inside Kati's brain making it that way. We have not had X-

reys thus far. I started to Repo 's noggin at 7 weeks of age.

Unfortunately we didn't get the results we were looking for

(sigh!!). Feel free to give me any info or advice you may have.

Hi ,

I havne't heard of a neurologist giving a referal. However, my

neurologist did have something about plagio on his standard check out

receipt (you know where they check box the diagnosis for billing).

It doesn't hurt to ask. Don't you already have the referal and rx

for a DOC band or am I confusing you with someone else?? (Sorry if

that's the case). If so are you just looking for a second opinion?

Hi - how is boo boo? Here are my thoughts - -

>>>What kind of questions should I ask?

It couldn't hurt to ask him for the referral and/or a prescription

for the band. Now I'm getting confused too. Why haven't normal xrays

been ordered by your ped yet? Ours did right away when I was worried

about his headshape. The ped ordered them to put my fears to rest

about craniosynostosis. It showed that the sutures were patent

whatever that means. (I think that they weren't fused prematurely).

Wait, did you have a CT scan done? That would be even more accurate

than regular xrays.

>>>If not I was going to make an appointment to see 's Ped to

discuss the findings of the nuro visit and also about geting her

Referal and Rx to CT.

That sounds like a great idea. I'd call and make it right now for

after that visit so that you won't have to wait.

>>>They did call her Ped from CT. Turns out that she had referd a

kiddo back in 2000. Any way she said she would give us the referal.

To the neurologist or to a pediatric neuroSURGEON? If she agreed,

then she should've given you a referral to the type of specialist

that would give you the prescription. Although, maybe you are saying

that SHE (your ped) will write the prescription after she hears what

the neurologist says....either way I cannot wait for 9/9 to come for

you and for you to get the prescription. I am so impatient so I can

only imagine how slowly this wait has been going for you. ly I

think they should see children a bit faster. Good luck.

Hi

My daughter Willow was also seen by a neurologist for the

torticollis, and developmental delay, and actually in our case to

rule out cerebral palsy sinse she had some of those signs.

What is really important to take to your appointment are all

milestones. Have everything written down to the day they occured.

They ususally want to know this.

The neurologist can most def give you a Rx for the band/helmet. In

your case it would be CT right. You can tell them that you already

had a consult there, and that they actually were for it.

Also IF at all they suspect anything going on with her brain, or to

just rule out, they might order an MRI.

We had gone when Willow was 6months old, and our neuro was actually

against major testing till babies are atleast 11months old, b/c she

said it was too young to dx certain things.

Good luck, and if you have anymore questions fire away
