Sounds like my wife.....I didn't know she was deaf in one ear.....I used to

ask her if she wanted to fool around or what? She ALWAYS replied, " What? " .....

We have 6 kids and 9 grandkids now..... :))

I had a hearing test along with the phys esam finger printed criminal check,

but I bet they will never start re check!!!11

I been in this business 6 months and listen to the oldies complain about not

being able to hear well because of the headsets

No followup for us.

The physical before hiring included a complete audiometer screening.

My high tone acuity - 2kHz and over - is substandard after 20+ years

in the US Army. Voice level acuity was and is OK. I voluntarily

attend the free screenings provided by the Lion's Club vans at

various community events in our area. They say that my hearing

hasn't deteriorated. I also donate my old prescription eyeglasses

to the Lion's.

I'm not really sure how we would handle a dispatcher with

deteriorating hearing. How much beyond the volume control might

be covered under 'reasonable accomodation'? Fortunately, we haven't

had to deal with it.
