Guest guest
Yepper... If they weren't so expensive, I'd suggest getting a couple of potted trees or maybe some potted plants to put out on your balcany. Though they wouldn't provide much shade, they would help make you feel as though you were a bit closer to nature. Could even hang your wind chimes on them. Subject: Do you ever feel...To: MSersLife Date: Wednesday, September 24, 2008, 12:52 PM I live in subsidized housing. I can't really afford to live anywherebut in subsidized housing. We moved into this unit in 2000, orthereabouts. It might have been 2001, but I know it wasn't 1999. Foryears there has been this nice clump of trees shading my bedroomwindow and giving partial shade to my back patio. I really likedhaving them there. It gave me something to hang my wind chimes onsince we are not allowed to screw things into the unit. They offeredsome protection from the elements and during the summer, helped myroom feel much cooler.Yesterday, the head of maintenance and his crew were in my backyardattacking these trees. They are not professional tree cutters. Iknew that there were a couple places on the outside of my unit wheretree trunks or branches were rubbing against. I figured that theywould just cut those parts down. I would be okay with that. However, they took them all down. I asked the head guy if the tree was sickand he said he didn't know. But, he said it was rubbing against theoutside and growing into the foundation. While I am not an expert in the area of trees and buildingfoundations, there is no evidence that he even dug into the ground tosee if the root system was actually growing into the foundation. There is no evidence inside my home that would indicate that the rootsare growing into the foundation. If you have come across buckledsidewalks which have trees growing nearby, you would know what I'mtalking about. It's really obvious. These guys did not do a good job in taking down the trees. Unlessthey come back to finish the job, they will be leaving these jaggedugly stumps. I doubt that they are going to plant another tree. Do you ever feel like going, "AAARRGGGH"? ?Donna in WA
Guest guest
Cutting down the trees is going to do very little for a foundation problem. They would need to have the root system of the tree destroyed. The roots will continue to grow even though the trees have been cut. They should have definately contacted a tree specialist on the subject first. Landlords are usually all about a quick fix. I'm sorry about that, trees are very nice for so many reasons. I'm with you on this one. Jolie
