Guest guest
> She thought > that due to EDS, his ankle " bent " instead of breaking. Just wanted to add another to the pile of wacky ankles. Elementary school... " bending " ankles was a daily activity (now I know it was dislocation). It never seemed to bother me unless I " bent " the ligaments attached to the bone which, unfortunately happened just about every time I " fell off my foot " (as I used to call it). Ligaments would not mend back to bone regardless of the treatment. So, in 1971 left ankle Modified surgical procedure to put all torn ligaments back in place. Strong and successful surgery. 1975 right ankle Modified surgical procedure for the same reason. Then, in 1981 the most extraordinary thing! My left ankle dislocated, but the surgery held my ligaments so strong that my bones fractured - compound no less! Open reduction to fix that little whammy and off I went. So for me, every since I was a little girl ... surgery has always been the answer to tears, rips and strrrrrrrrrretching of my ligaments. As long as the surgeon uses reams and reams of sutures and lots of re-bar to tie um up to, string thru, and wind around the bone they have seemed to hold strong. Most have lasted pretty well for 10 to 15 years. Now, of course, I'm lose as a goose everywhere even where the old reconstruction's are but ... that was just a matter of time! Have a nice week everyone! Debbi
