I want to thank , Sue Erbe, Nancee, Sharon, Mike, Georgia, Lucilla, Nalbandian, Doris and nne, for taking the time to write back to me about my decision to stop chemo. Not all of you agreed with my decision, but each of you sent heartfelt good wishes and said you respect that we can all make our own decisions. I have been receiving mixed support from my family and friends, but it's okay. Again, all I can tell you is that I'm at peace with this. So thanks again, friends, and I will forever be grateful for this list and for all of you. Love, Jill

Re: Re: My sheduled surgery is............

Hello,

I don't know if this will help at all, but I wanted to say a word or two about upcoming mastectomies and the fears associated with it.

I had a bilateral mastectomy. Please, please, believe me when I say there is almost NO pain involved. I had my surgery, came home the next day and the strongest med I took for pain (once I got home) was an Advil. Two days after surgery I was at a school event. The women who knew I'd just had a mastectomy kept praising me for my strength & courage. I told them I felt like a fraud - there was neither strength nor courage involved - I felt FINE!

Since my diagnosis, I have talked to many, many women who had mastectomies. In EVERY case, each agreed that the surgery was the easiest part of the treatment.

So, I wish each of you well and hope this post can alleviate a tiny bit of fear.

Best wishes,

Ann
